It’s time to clock back in. Season 2 of Apple TV+’s mind-bending, office-gone-wrong thriller is on the way. After that jaw-dropping cliffhanger in 2022, we’ve all been counting down the days. Finally, the wait is almost over.

Created by Dan Erickson and backed by Ben Stiller, Severance gave us dystopian sci-fi with a side of existential dread. If you’ve been itching for more office drama—but, like, the sinister kind—here’s everything we know about Season 2.

The Severance Season 2 trailer brings chills and confusion galore

Apple TV+ just dropped a teaser (per YouTube), and it’s a doozy. Gwendoline Christie’s mysterious new character warns others that they “should have left.” What does that mean? No idea. But it’s classic Severance—vague, creepy, and impossible to look away from.

Mark is back, running through Lumon’s creepy, endless hallways. There are flashes of his Severance procedure and moments where everything seems wrong. His coworkers are gone, replaced by strangers, and Milchick gives him that creepy grin we can’t unsee.

Later, a full trailer lands, and things get even weirder. Mark and his MDR team aren’t being punished for breaking the rules. Instead, they’re the new “faces of reform” for Lumon. Yeah, something’s definitely fishy about that.

Mark’s still digging into Gemma’s death, and the secrets of Lumon keep piling up. The teaser ends with more questions than answers—just the way we like it.

What is the plot of Severance Season 2?

Season 1 left a lot of loose ends, and Season 2 is here to tangle them up even more. After the innies gained control using Lumon’s Overtime Contingency, chaos erupted. Now, the company has to clean up the mess without exposing their big, evil plan.

Mark is determined to uncover the truth about his wife Gemma, who also happens to be Ms. Casey at Lumon. What’s her story? And what’s Lumon’s real goal with the Severance procedure?

Irving’s outie life is another big mystery. Remember those weird clues in Season 1? Season 2 might give us answers. Or maybe more questions. Either way, fans are ready for it. There’s also talk of Helena Eagan stepping up as the main villain. With her family’s ties to Lumon, this could get very interesting. No doubt about it, the stakes are higher than ever!

What is the cast of Severance Season 2?

Your Severance favorites are back! Adam Scott returns as Mark, still trying to piece together his split life. Patricia Arquette is back as Harmony, and Britt Lower reprises her role as Helly.

John Turturro and Christopher Walken return as Irving and Burt — fingers crossed for more of their heartwarming story. Zach Cherry (Dylan) and Tramell Tillman (Milchick) also return to keep things chaotic. But wait, there’s more!

Season 2 brings some exciting new cast members. Gwendoline Christie (The Sandman), Alia Shawkat (The Old Man), Merritt Wever (Unbelievable), Bob Balaban (Gosford Park), and John Noble (Fringe) are joining the show. Their roles are being kept secret, but with this lineup, it’s bound to be good.

Good news: Season 2 is officially on the schedule! The new season premieres on January 17, 2025. Yes, it’s been delayed (because of those Hollywood strikes), but the wait is almost over. The second season will have 10 episodes, released weekly.

That means we’ll get new episodes every Friday from January 17 to March 21. It’s been nearly three years since Season 1 ended, so now’s the perfect time to rewatch and refresh your memory. Trust us, you’re going to want to be ready for this.
