Shang-Chi Star Simu Liu Takes A Shot at DC’s The Batman In A Funny Tweet
Whether it’s about the Dollar Bill’s deadly mistake in the Watchmen or Booster Gold’s embarrassing wardrobe malfunction, there is enough precedent in superhero stories for superhero capes to become a safety hazard. Even Superman has been swung around by it before. So it’s not really surprising that Simu Liu, an actor who has played a superhero himself in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, sees the danger inherent in Batman driving around Gotham City with a cape and a motorbike. This is the observation that he made on Twitter recently, setting a series of hilarious replies from many fans.
Simu Liu takes a dig at DC’s Batman in a hilarious tweet
Simu Liu didn’t make anything explicit that he was talking about DC’s Batman or any particular character at all, but various production stills from Matt Reeves’ The Batman have depicted the Caped Crusader on a motorcycle. Obviously, this is quite a common piece of the Batgirl mythos, and she also has a movie coming.

I am not out here trying to disrespect anyone I just… isn't riding a motorcycle while wearing an oversized cape like a TERRIBLE idea?

In The Batman, after two years of stalking the streets as the Dark Knight (played by Robert Pattinson), and striking fear into the hearts of every criminal, Bruce Wayne has gone deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With not many trusted allies left — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) will be at his disposal — amongst Gotham’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile politicians, the vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst the citizens of Gotham.
Starring alongside Pattinson (The Lighthouse, Tenet) as Gotham’s infamous cast of characters are Zoë Kravitz (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) as Selina Kyle; Jeffrey Wright (No Time to Die, Westworld) as the GCPD’s James Gordon; Paul Dano (12 Years a Slave) as Edward Nashton; John Turturro (The Plot Against America, the Transformers films) as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard (The Magnificent Seven, Interrogation) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis (Black Panther, the Planet of the Apes films) as Alfred; and Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Gentlemen) as Oswald Cobblepot.
