Taking a child to a concert can create a really special bond between parents and their kids. Plus, it’s a fun way to introduce them to new music and artists, helping them discover more about the world of music.

But imagine, bringing a child to a concert, only to realize the music there is full of explicit lyrics. Not exactly what parents were expecting. Well, that’s what the popular rapper, Doja Cat wants to avoid, by discouraging parents from bringing their kids to her shows.

Now, some people might not agree with her, but she’s got a point, because not every concert is kid-friendly. While it’s awesome to share the love of music with kids, some shows just aren’t meant for young ears.

Recently, Doja Cat took to X and made it clear she doesn’t host family-friendly events. The rapper spoke out about the explicit content of her music on Friday (April 26), emphasizing that her lyrics aren’t meant for children.

She bluntly wrote, “idk what the f–k you think this is but i don’t make music for children so leave your kids at home motherf–ker.” The 28-year-old, preparing for her Scarlet Tour overseas, addressed the graphic nature of some of her lyrics, answering why parents should not bring their kids to her shows.

The singer pointed out that she raps about adult topics like s*x, and it doesn’t make sense for children to be singing along to those kinds of songs. “Im rapping about c– why are you bringing your offspring to my show,” Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini continued. “Rappin about eatin d–k and pissin on his v-cut, leave your mistake at home.*”

Music plays a big role in shaping a child’s development. But some songs, especially ones with explicit lyrics, can actually be not so good for them. Her music, for instance, features themes and language that are not suitable for young audiences, as stated by the singer herself.

Her recent album, Scarlet, includes songs with s*xually suggestive lyrics and profanity. While some might argue that parents can shield their kids from certain songs, it’s nearly impossible to control what a child hears at a concert.

Concerts are artistic performances. Artists like Doja Cat make music with a certain audience in mind. When she asks that her concerts be for adults only, it’s because she wants her music to be enjoyed in a certain way.

Her request might seem harsh, but it’s a fair one. While some critics might not agree, there are also some who support her call. Check out some fan reactions:
