Sony Set To Launch Several Spider-Man-Related TV Shows
With the recent successes of movies like Spiderman: Homecoming and Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse, Sony is seen moving full stream towards with more Spiderman properties on both TV shows and theatres. With the deal between Disney-Fox, Sony is now the only live-action rights holder of Marvel, outside Disney and Sony does want to use this to their own advantage.

According to Variety, Sony execs have revealed that they have the next few years all planned up TV shows for Spiderman and characters like Spiderman. Sony Entertainment chairman Tony Vinciquerra admits that they may have the next eight years planned.

“We have the next seven or eight years laid out as to what we’re going to do with that asset, and that will not only be on the film side — it’ll be on the TV side,” Vinciquerra said. “Our television group will have its own set of characters from within that universe that we will seek to develop.”

Venom’s Success has been a major boost
While things continue to solidify on Sony’a movie side, former Hulu exec Mike Hopkins has been charged to boost Sony’s presence on TV. As per Hopkins, Sony is about to reveal its first ever TV show featuring a property owned by Marvel.
“We’re developing a lot of Marvel-related content, and I think we’ll be out in the market very soon with something really, really big and transformational for us, because we’ve not done any shows with Marvel before, with Marvel IP,” Hopkins revealed. “So that’s a big piece of development that we’re onto.”
“I think we aspire to have several shows in a universe that we create that can pollinate between each other, and to working with a partner to make that happen,” he added.
We don’t know what shows Sony has in mind, but with the immense success of Venom, Sony has all the right reasons to build a Cinematic Universe.
