Spider-Man Fans Get a Spark of Hope as Peter Parker’s Happy Ending is Not Out of Pocket for Marvel
The vast universe of comic books and their respective characters have garnered millions of fans who are deeply vested in the stories they weave. Spider-Man from Marvel is undoubtedly one of the most favorite characters with its Multiversal storylines and variants of different kinds. A comic storyline of the character from 2007 sparked controversy and upset a lot of fans. Marvel’s editorial decisions were questioned as they furthered the story in a controversial manner. Now, the editor of the comic has commented on the same to clarify the confusion.
Will Marvel Undo The Comic Storyline?
Written by Michael Straczynski and Joe Quesada, One More Day was published in 2007 by Marvel that erased Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s marriage from the continuity. Spider-Man comes face to face with Mephisto in this edition who asks for his marriage in exchange of saving Aunt May’s life. This decision angered fans because they wanted their favorite web-slinger to have a happy ending after going through so much in life. While Marvel has remained steadfast in not reversing this story, the latest Amazing Spider-Man #39 – written by Zeb Wells, implies something else.
As reported by ScreenRant, Editor Nick Lowe says on the lettering page of the #39 comic, “As for ‘One More Day,’ we have mostly moved on, and I wouldn’t hold my breath for an undo any time soon, but I’ll never say never.”
This sentence does not offer much hope to the fans. However, a few people might still be open to reversing the storyline because they believe in happy endings. For better or worse, the choice to remove Peter and Mary Jane’s marriage was made to further the story in various narrative possibilities. Marvel is adamant about not bringing their marriage back to have an open floor for stories, which would make it the absolute focal point of all Spider-Man storylines going forward.

Will We Get To See Parker and MJ Together Again?
In the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman, the author will explore all the wonderful moments Parker might have had with Mary Jane. We will see them raising their kids while Spider-Man continues his job as the friendly neighborhood superhero.
Even if Marvel does not revive that storyline in the original universe, it will be great to see the original love story of one of the most popular Marvel superheroes. Uncle Ben, Aunt May, and Mary Jane are a part of Peter Parker’s canon storyline. Fans will obviously be enraged at Marvel deciding to undo such a crucial part of his life. For the time being, fans will just have to wait and see what Marvel does with this decision going forward.
