Nope! Amell is ready to stir the pot. In a recent interview, he didn’t hold back when discussing comparisons to the original Suits series. It seems he’s got a lot on his mind. Amell wants to make one thing clear: this spinoff isn’t trying to recreate the magic of the original.

During an episode of the Inside of You Podcast, Amell made it crystal clear: Suits: L.A. is not a carbon copy of the original. This spinoff is set in the City of Angels, featuring new characters and storylines. That means no more familiar faces, at least not at first.

The Canadian star wants viewers to understand that just because it’s called Suits, doesn’t mean it’s a rerun. He even joked about how people can find something else to watch if they’re not interested. Check out Amell’s quote below:

No, it’s never going to be what the original was, and that would be a terrible reason not to take the job. It’s going to be different. It’s set in a different place… and there will be people who watch the original but never watch our version, and that’s okay. Great. Go find something on Apple TV+ then.

It’s a cheeky comment, but it shows Amell’s confidence. He seems to believe that Suits: L.A. will stand on its own, without needing to lean on its predecessor.

Stephen Amell’s attitude is notable enough to analyze and comes off as excessive to some. Check out some fan reactions:

He mentioned that the new show will never be the same as the original Suits, which is totally fair. However, it might have been smarter for him to say that Suits: L.A. wants to appeal to both fans of the original show and new viewers.

Instead, the 43-year-old told people who are unsure about watching to check out something on Apple TV+, which is a different streaming service. This kind of advice might also not make the people in charge of Suits: L.A. very happy, since they want viewers to watch their show.

The new show will follow Ted Black, who has left his past behind and is dealing with a high-stakes legal world. With a fresh cast that includes Bryan Greenberg and Lex Scott Davis, viewers can expect a blend of professional drama and personal chaos.

Suits: L.A. might come out around 2025 or 2026.
