Studio Pierrot Did with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War What Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Had Been Begging from MAPPA
- Studio Pierrot gives hope to the fans of Bleach that a character might still be alive
- MAPPA failed to save Jujutsu Kaisen's beloved characters
- Gege Akutami confirmed Nobara and Nanami's death at the Jujutsu Kaisen exhibition
Jujutsu Kaisen fans seem to be having a dismal day, especially fans of Nobara Kugisaki and Gojo Satoru. In addition to confirming that Gojo Satoru will never return, Gege Akutami also added Nanami and Nobara to the list of people who are permanently dead.
In an interview with the author published in a recent Jujutsu Kaisen exhibition in Japan, Gege Akutami revealed that, before the start of the Shibuya arc, they and their team had already made the decision to kill Nanami and Nobara.
However, Studio Pierrot has won the Bleach fans’ hearts by diverting from the manga and giving them hope that a character might still be alive in the anime.
A Bleach Character Might Still Be Alive Despite What The Manga Depicts
Jujutsu Kaisen killed some (most) of the fan-favorite characters, and Gege Akutami has proved time and again that they don’t regret it. However, fans still held the hope that the characters wouldn’t be killed on-screen. And even if they did, they would eventually be revived in the anime by MAPPA because it seems unnecessarily ruthless to get rid of all the show’s popular characters.
Bleach has done what Jujutsu Kaisen could not. Robert Accutrone was introduced as one of the most seasoned Sternritter. Not only had Robert defeated and blinded Captain Shunsui Kyoraku, but he was also one of Emperor Yhwach’s most ardent supporters. The harsh and self-centered nature of the Quincy god-king was revealed by the stoic Quincy’s fearful breakdown and horrific death at the Auswahlen.
Robert could have made it through the anime, though. Not only was the combat between him and Captain Byakuya Kuchiki televised, but it was also later revealed that Robert was still alive. Notably, he was not presented at the Auswahlen either. Supporters who believe he is still alive believe he is being kept alive for a major battle or a scene that commemorates his first death.
Gege Akutami’s Disclosure At The Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 saw Kento Nanami die a brutal death at the hands of Mahito, and similarly, Nobara Kugisaki met her end as well. Since then, fans have conjectured extensively to support their theories that Nobara is indeed alive and would reappear to aid Yuji in his fight against Sukuna.
However, Gege Akutami, being the sadist that they are, threw water at all that hope at the Jujutsu Kaisen exhibition that started on July 6, 2024. Akutami revealed that they had planned to get rid of Nobara Kugisaki and Kento Nanami even before the Shibuya Incident arc began.
Nanami and Nobara’s death devastated Jujutsu Kaisen fans worldwide, shattering their hearts and leaving an indelible mark on the fandom as a whole. Akutami’s revelation confirms the tragic fate of the characters, a decision that undoubtedly shaped the story’s direction and also added depth to the character’s personalities.
