Reviving a show can be a tricky venture, as some shows ended exactly where they should have. If a show was cancelled without giving viewers the ending they deserved then reviving it would undoubtedly anger those fans who wanted to see the end of that story. However, since Swamp Thing had been unceremoniously dumped on DC Universe and left incomplete, it may just be time to finish what we started and bring this cancelled series back to life. With that being said, here are the 5 reasons the cancelled show needs a movie revival –

The Unfinished Storylines

DC’s Swamp Thing is a series that was cancelled too soon. But it could be brought back to life after four seasons and change the fate of the TV show. When Swamp Thing first hit the small screens, there were so many loose threads that needed to be tied up. Like with Avery still at large, Jason Woodrue becoming Floronic Man, Alec and Abby staying behind in Marias when we last saw them and Blue Devil leaving after finding out about Linda’s true self. It’s called Swamp Thing for a reason after all.

It Deserves The Direction Of HBO Max

Now, Swamp Thing requires far more than just good writing and acting. It needs a good-sized budget and studio to make everything come together and beyond the now-defunct DC Universe, HBO Max, a streaming label that has some of the best shows from the 2010s, is one option. Known for crafting large scale productions like Lovecraft Country and Raised by Wolves, the streaming service will be able to give the DC character his or her due and keep creating amazing effects going into the future. Heck, the story may even become better under HBO Max’s direction depending on who they hire as a Director.

It Had The Perfect Blend Of Horror And Superhero Genre

Let’s face it, horror and superheroes don’t go hand in hand. Sure, a lot of filmmakers have been able to work in some gruesome thrills into superhero films and shows, like Constantine or Swamp Thing for example. If the makers of Swamp Thing can find that perfect balance between horror and drama by presenting viewers with moments that make our skin crawl then we could be about to see a resurgence of quality comic book horror.

It Could Help Bringing New Characters In The DC Universe

One of the rewards of taking pieces from the vibrant DC Comics universe is that there are endless possibilities of what characters you can use. One thing that’s fun about this rich world is it’s steeped not only in bright colours but also carries with it certain darkness to it that comes from all of the magical elements. It could be cool if maybe some different characters come into play alongside the likes of Constantine, Zatanna, Etrigan, and Deadman like for example Jason Blood or even Man-Bat!

The Quality Of The Series Was Incredible

What was unexpected about this DC series was how good it was. Given that there are already many DC oriented television series, comic or otherwise, fans might wonder what’s so special about this one. But the thing is that Swamp Thing had a great story to tell along with very high-quality effects and attention to detail in terms of everything from writing to casting. The kind of overall vision taken by the writers and producers with this particular series is something we would like to see in this upcoming revival since we’re sure they could take things up a notch and maybe even create an even better show than before.
