The official synopsis for “What Lies Beneath,” the second season premiere of Superman & Lois has premiered on CW has been released. The show is slated to air on January 11, before the Naomi pilot. The episode starts with the characters still coping with the events of the finale of the first season, with everyone facing an all-new status quo. It looks like relationship issues are the word of the day, with Clark and Lois still struggling for unexplained reasons and Adam being jealous of Lana’s relationship with a political candidate. Jordan and Sarah’s relationship is also threatened by the weight of the Kent family secrets.

In the previous season, Superman discovered that he also had a half-brother who, while acting under the influence of Eradicator, who tried to take over everyone by transforming the Smallville’s citizens into vessels for Kryptonian souls. This is quite unlikely to completely disappear from the story either, since it looks like Smallville has a permanent military presence now. General Sam Lane might be done with Smallville, but Mitch Andersen is also coming, and from the ring of it, he and Man of Steel won’t have a really steady relationship.

Of course, Natalie and John Henry Irons are also going to have to figure out how to survive and live in a new Earth, all while Natalie faces the fact that the one who looks and sounds just like her mom…isn’t.
