According to a research team represented by Gabrielle Tepp of Caltech, Swift’s Eras Tour organized at the SoFi Stadium in California recorded low-range seismic waves during the concert. Fans reacted on social media and spoke about the monumental impact of Taylor Swift. Based on the Seismological Research Letters, after receiving a request from the California Office of Emergency Services, strong motion sensors were fixed at the SoFi stadium ahead of Swift’s concert. According to the study, almost 70,00 fans were present inside the stadium, and their dancing and tapping movements led to the generation of seismic waves.
Research head Gabrielle Tepp mentioned in the report-
“Overall, the results from these concerts are similar to those from the Swift concerts and support the audience-source hypothesis. The (local magnitude) of the songs was in the same range as the Swift concerts, although none matched or exceeded the strongest Swift signal. Based on the maximum strength of shaking, the strongest tremor was equivalent to a magnitude -2 earthquake,”
As per the recorded data, the strongest seismic activity with a 0.851 magnitude was recorded during the performance of Shake It Off.
