Seems like reveling in her landmark role as the Catwoman was not enough for Zoë Kravitz as she ventures into the directorial territory with the upcoming movie Blink Twice. Kravitz has been in Hollywood for quite some time as an actress and now she is widening her footprint with more impactful contributions that will make the viewers think.

With a resolute approach towards the narrative, as she wants to portray it, Kravitz ensured she writes a story that speaks volumes of the current issues faced by women and comments on society’s role in the same. Speaking to Collider about her inspirations, Kravitz revealed,

I wanted to really explore how absurd it is that women are asked to forget and pretend and smile through the pain and speak with their eyes because we can’t say it out loud and really want to highlight how insane that is and how tiring. I think the thing that kind of cracked it open was the element of memory and kind of taking those emotions and making it an actual metaphor. I was really inspired by the Garden of Eden and that was the idea for the island and the idea of The Serpent and how we’ve made it it’s such a negative thing that you know women wanting knowledge is the devil or something so kind of taking all of those just thoughts that I’ve always had and putting them into some crazy story.

The Biblical Garden of Eden ignites a desire for everyone to leave their life behind and reside in the beautiful embrace of the field of flowers. To showcase how the parties and getaways can be alluring, Kravitz’s inspiration looks extremely accurate. Moreover, she speaks about the series The Serpent which revolves around a serial killer and his girlfriend who execute plots to murder people and steal their passports.

This claim further makes us wonder if Channing Tatum’s character in the film could echo the same personality as he invites people over to perform heinous actions or simply murder them to get what he wants. Fans will have to wait for the twisted tale to release to get all the answers.

Blink Twice features Kravitz’s fiance Channing Tatum in the lead role as a billionaire who hosts lavish, out-of-bounds parties on his private island. Along with a bunch of eccentric characters, a cocktail waitress gets pulled into the madness that ensues once everyone reaches the famed island for a gala time.

The trailer of the movie gives a surface-level idea about what the story could be about. With elements of fear and betrayal, Slater King’s parties are definitely not all wine and Hors d’oeuvres. Frida the waitress feels like losing her memory and even gets separated from her friend, representing the concept of gaslighting women into thinking their version of reality does not exist.

Kravitz further sheds light on the fact that she wishes to take back the power of the narrative for women through this movie and explore the dynamics of power between men and women.
