The two ensemble Avengers movies have also been finalized with Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom as the central villain. These arcs will perhaps connect the mutants to the wider MCU along with the rebooted Fantastic Four storyline.

In a Reddit post, people have been uniting for a cause to get Namor to appear in the upcoming Fantastic Four flick. Given Namor and Sue Storm’s romantic relationship in the comics, fans want Marvel to explore this angle and give Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards a worthy romantic rival.

Sue Storm primarily engages in a relationship with Namor to make Richards jealous. Since the latter is always busy with his pursuits to further science and technology, he seldom has time for love and relationships. Sue being heartbroken, embarks on a relationship with Namor who she finds attractive. However, deep in her heart, she knows that she only has true feelings for Richards.

Marvel has a great opportunity to include this arc and give Namor a wider storyline. His inclusion in the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe can further open more doors for stories involving Wakanda and the Fantastic Four crew. Moreover, such tropes help establish the superheroes as humans first who feel and behave like everyone else.

Kevin Feige addresses Namor’s Future in the MCU

Seeing the widespread interest in having Namor in more future projects, Marvel boss Kevin Feige spoke about the potential the character brings to the table and the exceptional storylines that can be adopted thanks to his mutant past. In The Official Black Panther Podcast, Feige expressed,

You know, people who read the comics know there are 80 years of stories with Namor that we can tap into. So where and when, we’ll keep to ourselves for now, but we think that this is an incredibly iconic character that’s been introduced, probably to most people, most moviegoers, for the first time. And we very much expect them to want to see more.

This confirmation by Feige has fans excited and geared up to see more of the aquatic mutant. His diverse past coupled with his tension-filled association with the Wakandans keeps him in a grey area where nobody knows for sure if he is a hero or a villain. Such characters who tiptoe the line of morality often have interesting viewpoints and are pivotal in changing the direction of stories in an instant.
