In the last episode of The Apothecary Diaries Season 2, Maomao is summoned by a palace lady after being discovered making medicine. This is concerning because creating medicine without being a medical practitioner is illegal within the palace grounds. However, the palace lady needed Maomao to look for a maid who had recently gone missing.

The maid suffered from a nasty cough and should have taken proper care to get better. But now she is nowhere to be seen. Later, we discover that Shin, the head lady-in-waiting of Lady Lihua, is the one who was keeping that missing sick maid captive in a storeroom. Shin had her own agenda behind this, as she was hiding a collection of poisonous material.

Shin, a cousin of Lady Lihua, was jealous of her for getting the Emperor’s attention and wanted to make an abortion medicine for her. That entire ploy gets thwarted by the absolute genius Maomao.

The Apothecary Diaries Season 2, Episode 7 should expand on the interest that the Emperor showed in Maomao in the previous episode. Maomao will be called by the Emperor to go to the shrine of choosing, which used to be a place that determined the next ruler.

This shrine has multiple doors through which you can pass, and only the rightful descendant from the first Empress Dowager can go through the correct door. The interesting thing to look forward to will be whether Maomao can solve the riddle behind this shrine or not.

As usual, fans have great expectations from the next episode because it will finally disclose some information about the very private Emperor and the secretive Jinshi. It is definitely tough to wait for the next episode, but it will be worth it.
