Reeves appears to be reviving the Batman series and based on the cast and the first film thus far, it will be a breath of fresh air. While the Riddler, appears in the first installment of a new trilogy, what more legendary Batman villains should appear in the sequels who are better options than the Joker?
1. The Court of Owls
The Court of Owls, which debuted in 2011 as part of DC’s New 52 revamp of its comic universe, is an underground society of Gotham’s richest and most deadly citizens. Bruce discovers that The Court of Owls has been controlling Gotham City in the shadows for hundreds of years and is responsible for some of the city’s most heinous atrocities. Throughout its history, The Court has used assassins known as Talons to safeguard their well-being when they believe their very existence is endangered. The Court and/or Talon as villains for Pattinson’s gloomy teenage Batman may be an ideal match for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which appears to take place in a more reality-based universe.
2. Talia Al Ghul
Talia should take center stage and be set up as a villain and perhaps love interest for Robert Pattinson’s Batman, whether they chose to do another take on Ra’s al Ghul or not. Incorporating elements from the comic story “Batman and Son,” in which Talia drugged and seduces Batman in order to create a love child, is a crazy hypothesis, but it would be something fans have never seen in live-action.
3. Hugo Strange
Hugo Strange is one of Batman’s longest recurrent villains in the comics, and he’s been in animation, TV, and video games, but he’s never appeared on the big screen. Reeves’ dark universe appears to be the ideal opportunity to change that.
Strange’s major passion is determining Batman’s actual identity, and he will go to any length to discover who wears the cape and cowl. Strange would be another ideal reality-based adversary for Pattinson’s Caped Crusader, owing to the fact that he is a psychotic doctor rather than a colossal crocodile or an actual Man-Bat.
4. Black Mask
Ewan Macgregor played Black Mask well in the Birds of Prey film, but the film was eventually underwhelmed and his performance was squandered. In terms of being a realistic take on The Caped Crusader and Gotham City, Reeves’ The Batman follows in the footsteps of Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, therefore Black Mask would be an ideal nemesis for Pattinson’s new Batman. Because The Penguin is expected to portray a mafia boss rather than a real penguin in The Batman, collaborating with an underworld criminal like Black Mask might make sense in future films.
5. Two-Face
Harvey Dent, or Two-Face, has been depicted on film several times and is one of Batman’s most lethal foes of all time. Tommy Lee Jones’ portrayal of Batman in Batman Forever was just too campy, but Aaron Eckhart did an outstanding job in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Regardless of who plays him, Harvey Dent is a character that looms over Gotham City and should be presented as a well-established enemy of Pattinson’s Batman. Similar to Bruce’s parents’ deaths, there’s no need to depict Dent’s face being burnt again, but rather have an established Two-Face running rough shoot through Reeves’ Gotham City? It would make perfect sense to have a fully altered Two-Face working with other villains.
