Why TBATE Fans Believe It Can Outshine Solo Leveling

It’s important to recognize that The Beginning After the End has surpassed Solo Leveling as the most successful title on Kakao Entertainment’s webtoon platform for North America, Tapas, in the U.S.

Even with its long existence, most people forget the origin of the author and how they never anticipated the series to achieve such massive success.

TBATE‘s popularity came from the author’s commitment, mixing original concepts and phenomenal world-building that captivates fans worldwide.

In an interview with Anime Trending, TBATE‘s original author, TurtleMe, shared their thoughts on how an American novel managed to achieve such immense popularity and build a loyal fanbase, ultimately leading to its anime adaptation. They stated:

As cliche as it sounds, I think that growing up a consumer and fan of both Western and Eastern media, I always just relied on my sense of “what do I want to see more of.” It’s what inspires me to create these new fantastical worlds and take the main characters on this journey.

TurtleMe began working on TBATE‘s story in 2014 as a creative outlet from his day job in the finance industry, initially publishing first-draft content directly on the web platform Royal Road.

TBATE‘s author shared that the journey of crafting the story was one of their most cherished experiences. Working with both Western and Eastern media allowed them to incorporate unique concepts while prioritizing world-building. They also added:

It’s an adventure that I find myself going through while incorporating aspects and themes of fantasy epics along with more modern-day mangas and manhwas that I feel have helped make The Beginning After the End strike a chord with people all around the world.

TBATE will be a treat for isekai fans, offering a world similar to Mushoku Tensei, but with an MC who was a wise and powerful king in his previous life, not some weird pervert.

The manhwa has earned acclaim for its rich character development, immersive world-building, and thoughtful exploration of themes like power, loss, and redemption.

TBATE stands on the fame and the strength of its storytelling. It does not need to rely on the success of Solo Leveling as the basis for landing a good adaptation. Rather, TBATE’s understanding of elaborate world-building and storytelling could make for a historic moment in the anime realm, proving that strong narrative and world-building will be the forbearers of its adaptation success.

The Beginning After the End confronts challenges ahead of its anime adaptation debut

Unfortunately, manhwa readers shouldn’t get their hopes up too much, as the studio behind TBATE has a poor reputation that could jeopardize the adaptation fans have eagerly awaited for years.

Many fans are concerned about the TBATE studio, which has been labeled a flop, with none of its past works earning over a 7 rating on MyAnimeList.

The Beginning After The End is a web novel series written by TurtleMe and illustrated by Fuyuki23. The serialization started on Tapas in 2017. So far, six volumes have been released, but the sales number remains unknown.
