Christopher Nolan’s Dream To Cast Jim Carrey In A Biopic Was Shattered
Who doesn’t want to work with one of the most phenomenal filmmakers of all time? Christopher Nolan is every actor’s dream, but the Dunkirk director had major plans to work with The Mask actor. During an interview with The Daily Beast in 2017, the director spoke about his dream project based on the life of American Business Magnate Howard Hughes. According to the director, Jim Carrey was born to play the character of Howard Hughes. He said-
“I think it’s the best script I’ve ever written, and I had a really wonderful experience writing it. Yeah, it was a frustrating experience that the other movie [The Aviator] got going [first].”
During the promotion of Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan spoke about the biopic and said-
“Many years ago, I had written a script about the life of Howard Hughes that never got made because I wrote it right as Scorsese was making his own film. Christopher Nolan Credits Leonardo DiCaprio For A Major Plot Change In Inception
Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi thriller Inception needs no introduction when it comes to compelling storytelling and spellbinding cinematography. However, the original script of Inception was quite different from the tweaked one. Leonardo DiCaprio had requested him to change the script with respect to the more character-based approach.
During an interview with media outlet Variety, the Oppenheimer director spoke about the suggestion provided by the Academy Award-winning actor. He said-
“I was working on a more superficial version…I was still trying to approach it from a genre perspective. Leo [DiCaprio] encouraged me to push it in a more character-based direction, more about the relationship.
He further added-
It made a huge difference. It was a fraught, difficult process…but it was very productive. I think he made it a more resonant film.”
All thanks to the Titanic actor’s input, Inception went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2010. The movie was made on a budget of $160 million and went on to make $837.2 million worldwide.
Inception can be streamed on Netflix.
