SUMMARY
  • Vought does not seem to care about the tracking chips inside supes in The Boys anymore.
  • A-Train's betrayal would have been instantly apparent had Vought paid attention to his tracking chip.
  • The Boys has been renewed for season 5.

We all have a fair idea as to how the world would look if there were various superheroes to protect the planet from supervillains. However, the genre needed an upgrade that came with Amazon Prime’s The Boys.

The Boys presented an opportunity for Amazon Prime to show how the world would look like if superheroes knew how powerful they were. The world would be worse off with superheroes like Homelander at the helm. With season 4 of The Boys currently premiering on Amazon Prime, fans are excited to know how the showrunners will wrap up the story in the season finale, given how a certain Vought supe has turned out to be a snitch.

While initially, the Amazon Prime show made a big deal about tracking chips in the Vought Superheroes, the later Seasons put less and less focus on the said tracking chips. In The Boys season 2, Starlight gets her tracking chip removed by Frenchie. She does so to remain a secret part of The Boys without Homelander knowing her whereabouts.

Now, when there is another Vought supe fighting on the wrong side of the battleground, Vought has no idea. Fans are questioning what came of their super high-tech tracking chips that could track and keep an eye on every superhero who is a part of the company. A-Train is seen in the latest episode as he helps Butcher and his crew.

He even dives into the building to save them while The Deep and Black Noir carry out Homelander’s evil plan. Had Vought paid more attention to tracking the supes they are so fond of, they would have found out about A-Train’s involvement with The Boys sooner.

Moreover, Starlight did not seem to face any repercussions for removing the tracking chip back in season 2. Did Vought forget about the tracking chip in the midst of major crises? We might get the answer in the upcoming episodes. A-Train runs to Vought after being recognized as the leak in the company.

There, Ashley tells him to remove his chip and run away. Here, one is forced to wonder if Ashley helped cover A-Train’s tracks as she was in cahoots with the supe. Being a Vought insider, she could have had access to his tracking chip data and may have removed it to hide from Homelander. Moreover, it is revealed that Sister Sage knows about A-Train’s involvement with Butcher but still remains silent. So, with two such possible allies, A-Train could have been protected from Homelander’s wrath.

The finale of The Boys season 4 might shed some light on the tracking chip and its significance (if it has any). This time, Homelander does not seem to be in a forgiving mood and might just blow A-Train up for his betrayal.

Even before The Boys season 4 aired, Amazon Prime renewed the superhero show for another season. While some think this could dilute the value of the show and make Homelander go too far, others are excited to see where Homelander’s cruelty ends.

Showrunner Eric Kripke has reportedly confirmed that The Boys season 5 will wrap up the story for good and offer a satisfying ending to the entire series. It has been a fun yet gory adventure and we are eager to know if, and how Homelander gets defeated. There were talks about a movie based on The Boys universe to conclude the series, but that idea appears to have been shut down.

The Boys is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
