Thanks to CBR, we have some photos from The Boys Presents: Varsity, which is still filming at the University of Toronto. The photos are set at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, and they depict statues on the campus of two of the graduates of the school.
New and Old Heroes Spotted
One statue shows Lamplighter, played by Shawn Ashmore in the first season, however, his statue is covered in trash bags. The second statue that we spot is of Translucent, the invisible supe, portrayed by Alex Hassell. Both of them died in the first season of The Boys. The third image shows an on-campus poster giving fans a first look at Golden Boy, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger.
If you are wondering about the background of Godolkin University, it is named after John Godolkin, who made an appearance in The Boys comics as the G-Men leader, which happens to be a twist on both Professor X and X-Men from Marvel Comics.
It was announced last year that Agent Carter showrunners Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas are on board to direct the forthcoming spinoff of The Boys. Craig Rosenberg, who serves as an executive producer on The Boys, will write the script. The movie will take place in the same universe as The Boys, and it follows a group of students at Godolkin University, the only college in America that is attended only by superheroes.
Eric Kripke On The Boys Present: Varsity
“Much like Mork & Mindy spun-off from Happy Days — which is an insane and true fact – – our spinoff will exist in the Vought Cinematic Universe, yet have a tone and style all its own. It’s our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated and sometimes deadly Young Supes,” said The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke. “Michele and Tara are stone-cold geniuses, we’re thrilled to have them steer this ship, and grateful to Sony and Amazon for the opportunity. We love this show and can’t wait for you to see it. Also, Baywatch Nights spun off from Baywatch, and it had vampires. Vampires!”
Varsity was announced back in 2020 and is described as “an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”
The Boys Presents: Varsity doesn’t have a release date yet while you can watch new episodes of The Boys every Thursday on Prime Video.
