The Flash Movie Will Feature Keaton’s Batman And Supergirl
DCEU’s upcoming film, The Flash, will feature Keaton’s Batman and Supergirl. Here is everything that fans need to know about the story.
The Alternate Universe
In the upcoming DCEU film, The Flash, Ezra Miller will return to reprise his role as Barry Allen. His iteration as the Flash was initially teased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before he made an official debut in Justice League. However, his role was later nurtured well in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. While it is going to be the Flash’s first solo movie, Miller’s role as Barry Allen is highly anticipated. This is because the role and the film will also discover the return of Keaton’s Batman along with Supergirl.
Barry Allen as a speedster debuted in 1956 and ever since then, the alternate timelines, Allen’s inceptions, and the multiverse have remained tied up with his stories and character. The first-ever iteration of the Flash was Jay Garrick in the 1940s and the character showed up when Barry made his appearance in the DC Universe. While it could sound confusing to many, Jay and Barry, both have worked alongside Superman, as shown in Flash of Two Worlds (1961). The story conventionally popularized the concept of the multiverse in superhero stories. With that said Jay and Barry, both were the Flash, but in their respective realities and each knew Superman of that reality.
The Flash Meets Batman
The Flash’s most anticipated plot is the return of Keaton’s Batman. The character first debuted in Tim Burton’s superhero movie of 1989. After two movies and an ongoing comic series by Joe Quinones and Sam Hamm, Keaton’s Batman will again appear in 2022’s The Flash. Thanks to the concept of multiverses in DCEU. When the announcement was made that it will be Michael Keaton who will play Batman in the film, many believed that it’d be only a guest appearance. But the trailer of the film suggested the opposite.
Batman only appears at the end of the footage released by the FanDome but his voiceover suggests that he is well aware of Allen’s multiversal adventures. The Flash looks like an adaptation of the DC Comic, Flashpoint. If that is the case, then Barry might return to his original timeline where Keaton’s Batman will appear as an ally to repair the damages caused. Even in Flashpoint, Allen worked with a version of Batman to fix the alterations. However, Flashpoint’s Batman was very brutal and bitter when compared to the sacred version. Thus, Keaton’s Batman might show up as the right fit to play an ally in The Flash.
The Flash Meets Himself And Supergirl
Another moment from the FanDome footage included Barry standing along with an alternate version of the Flash and Supergirl. While Supergirl is definitely from another timeline, her costume suggests that she is just another prominent part of the DCEU like Allen. With that said, Supergirl’s existence in the film was also confirmed in a Man of Steel comic. Given Allen’s time-traveling adventures, The Flash is definitely going to be one of the most intriguing DCEU installments ever made.
