Most rich celebrities want their kids to take the business or the legacy forward. They try to get their kids in the family business or actors give a gateway to their kids to enter the industry. At the same time, it is not far-fetched to believe that the massive wealth of celebrities will be passed down to their kids so that they can live a full life. Marie Osmond seems to believe otherwise. In an interview with US Weekly, she said,

“Honestly, why would you enable your child to not try to be something? I don’t know anybody who becomes anything if they’re just handed money. To me, the greatest gift you can give your child is a passion to search out who they are inside and to work. I mean, I’ve done so many things from designing dolls [and much more]. I love trying [and] I wanna try everything. I’m a finisher.”

She firmly believes that leaving her wealth for her kids or grandkids will only make them lazy and remove all ambitions from their personalities. With a million dollars in the bank, who would want to work hard to earn money? On the other hand, after supporting her family for so long both financially and emotionally, Osmond wants to spend the money on herself and her husband to have fun while it lasts.

Marie Osmond Won't Be Leaving Her Children An Inheritance

Osmond first revealed this decision in 2020 and has since then stood by her belief. She further adds that she never says no to her children when they need money or an investment. She pitches in and helps them as much as she can. However, to a larger extent, children must earn money to sustain themselves, thus learning the importance of hard work and dedication.

“I think you do a great disservice to your children to just hand them a fortune because you take away the one most important gift you can give your children, and that’s the ability to work. You see it a lot in rich families where the kids, they don’t know what to do and so they get in trouble. Let them be proud of what they make. I’m going to give mine to my charity.”

Osmond will be leaving her money to charity and making the lives of needy people better in her own way. Emphasizing the desire to make children independent and self-sufficient, Osmond has faith in her upbringing that will enable her children to live a good life. Her children will recognize their self-worth and take care of themselves without outside help.
