The Last of Us Season 2 Bringing in ‘Succession’ Fame Mark Mylod as Director
The recent awards season has brought many shows into the limelight for their exceptional work in every arena. From shows like Succession to The Last of Us and movies like Barbie and Oppenheimer, the who’s who of Hollywood have been recognized for their talented filmography. The upcoming era of shows and movies in 2024 will have to take it up a notch to match the standards set by 2023.

The Last of Us Season 2 Directors
The band of super directors has just been called upon, and that is to direct the episodes of the much-awaited season 2 of The Last of Us. Every episode of the season might be helmed by a different director to give viewers a taste of unique visualizations and take the story further without an ounce of boring scenes. The previous season of the show had nine episodes and seven directors, so we are yet to see if there will be more directors in the second season or if any director will oversee multiple episodes. This directing coup does not only show HBO’s prowess as a platform but also signifies the popularity of The Last of Us series.
Mark Mylod, who has just won an Emmy for his work on Succession, has been added to the slew of directors set to direct episodes of The Last of Us. Succession as well as The Last of Us are HBO’s signature drama shows that bring numerous accolades and appreciation to the platform. Other directors at the helm include Loki’s Kate Herron, Watchmen’s Stephen Williams, Perry Mason’s Nina Lopez-Corrado, and the returning creators of the show from the first season Craig Mazin, Neil Druckmann and Peter Hoar.
Mylod is known for directing The Menu along with working on popular shows such as Game of Thrones, Shameless and Entourage. His talented eye for directing is widely appreciated in the industry hence his addition to The Last of Us show is not unimaginable. With 8.2 million viewers watching the finale of the show, we can only expect a larger chunk of the audience logging in to stream the second season of the show.

The Last of Us Season 2 Release Date
Given the show is currently under planning and scheduling, it’s possible we will not be able to get the next chapter of the story this year. Production for season 2 will begin in Vancouver, Canada by the coming month. Primary actors of the show including Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will be returning to the show.
The second season, in all possibility, will follow the events of the sequel of the game and tell us how the lives of the central characters proceed. We might see a time jump as Joel and Ellie try to live a normal life after suffering the events of the first season. Vengeance, violence, and more rebellion will be seen in The Last of Us season 2.
