The Mandalorian is one of the most popular live-action shows in the world right now. The show is also the first live-action series of the legendary franchise, Star Wars. The series follows the adventures of Din Djarin who tries to protect Grogu from the bounty hunters. The 3rd season of the series was widely anticipated by the fans and they were not disappointed by the show. Although only 2 episodes of season 3 have aired so far, the fans are as hyped as ever.

Let’s take a look at the all main characters who have returned or are all set to return for season 3 of the series.

The Mandalorian has been a very hit series among the fans of the Star Wars franchise. A lot of characters have marked their return to season 3 of the series. And a lot more are all set to return.

1. The Mandalorian or Din Djarin

Played by Pedro Pascal, the Mandalorian is the lead character of the series. The Mandalorian used to be a bounty hunter who later went rogue to protect Grogu. The character’s real name is Din Djarin which was disclosed in the first season of the series. In the finale of season 2, we saw an emotional farewell between Grogu and Djarin. Djarin removed his helmet as Grogu saw the face of the Mandalorian for the first time. In the spinoff series, The Book of the Boba Fett, Djarin is reunited with Grogu and the duo starts traveling the galaxy together again in season 3.

2. Grogu

Grogu is the character responsible for the most fan following in the series. Back in 2019, he was referred to the character as the “biggest new character“. The character that is often referred to as Baby Yoda is a child member of the same species as Yoda. At the end of season 2, Baby Yoda was taken away by Luke Skywalker who offered to train the toddler as a Jedi. Grogu was later reunited with Djarin in the spinoff series, The Book of the Boba Fett.

3. Greef Karga

Greef Karga who is portrayed by Carl Weathers is a very important character in the series. Karga is the leader of the Bounty Hunters and he is responsible for the meeting of Djarin and Grogu. He is the one who gave Din Djarin the initial mission of retrieving the Grogu. The character returned to season 3 of the series in “Chapter 17: The Apostate“. Greef allegedly tried to convince Din Djarin and Grogu to stay on Nevarro. However, Djarin does not listen to him and ends up going to Mandalore.

4. Moff Gideon

Moff Gideon serves as the antagonist in the series as the leader of the fallen Galactic empire. He is the character who is trying to capture Grogu for himself. Gideon was defeated in a duel by The Mandalorian in the finale of season 2 of the series. The character was later taken into custody by Cara Dune. Giancarlo Esposito revealed in an interview that he will be returning to season 3 of The Mandalorian. He said, “I have a feeling you’ll see more of me next season. More than likely you’re going to see a lot of Moff Gideon.

5. Bo-Katan Kryze

Katee Sackhoff plays the role of Bo-Katan Kryze in the live-action series. At the end of season 2, Kryze agreed to help Din Djarin in the operation to rescue Grogu so that she could get her hands on Gideon’s sword, the Darksaber. However, Djarin defeats Gideon in combat and becomes the wielder of the Darksaber. Later, when Djarin tried to surrender the sword to Kryze, Gideon informs them that the sword can only be won in combat. Bo-Katan Kryze made her return to season 3 in the series as well. She helps the Mandalorian in chapter 18 of the series after he is caught in a trap on Mandalore.

There is still a lot of doubt if some characters will be making their return to the series or not. Ming-Na Wen who plays the role of Fennec Shand had earlier revealed in an interview that she is unsure about her character’s future in the series. Gina Carano was also dropped from The Mandalorian after she made some controversial posts on social media about the COVID-19 outbreak back in 2020.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian is now streaming on Disney+.
