The most powerful sword in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is none other than the Necrosword. The Necrosword has a bad boy reputation in the MCU comics. King Thor #2 Gorr evolves the Blade in its final form. It is one of the most potent weapons which is capable of destroying the universe.

The Necrosword

The Necrosword
Gorr Revives the Necrosword to destroy the Universe.

The mighty sword has a long history which ages back to the cosmic mythos of the Marvel Universe. It stands as a connection between Thor and Venom. The sword makes its introduction in the comic series Thor: God of Thunder. However, Venom provides a backstory for the sword describing its history.

The sword is brought to life by the God of Symbiotes, Knull. Coincidentally, Knull is the same God Carnage wants to release in Absolute Carnage. The Necrosword has a reputation for causing the murder of divine entities. Gorr, the God Butcher, sought to eradicate all godly beings from reality, one death at a time. When all the plans go south, the weapon is passed down to Thor. This is followed by Galactus, Ego the Living Planet and lastly in the hands of Loki.

Gorr’s Master Plan

Gorr's Master Plan
Gorr destroys Thor and Loki using the Necrosword.

Necrosword is known for the destruction of the universe before the release of King Thor. Gorr still seems to have unfinished business with the sword. Before Loki releasing coup de grace on Thor, Gorr reveals a surprising fact. It turns out a piece of him still survives in the Blade. Gorr then emerges to reclaim the sword by entering into a battle with Thor.

The most potent sword may be popularly known as the Necrosword, but Gorr has his nickname. He calls it the Annihilablade, the Planet Cleaver and the Final Doom of the Gods. Gorr commands the Blade to rip through the planet. Thor wields massive supernovas to combat the sword’s power. But to no avail, the supernovas are no match for the Necrosword. Even though Thor and Loki join hands to fight off Gorr, they are no match for him. Gorr ultimately consumes the two of them in utter darkness after critically injuring the pair, and by the issue’s end, there appears little hope for a comeback.

This is the second issue in the King Thor series. One can hope the life of the Gods is restored for further problems in the series.
