A lot of discussions were happening about the death of both Jecki Lon (played by Dafne Keen) and Yord Fandar (played by Charlie Barnett) in Night, the 5th episode of the show. The episode was released in late June and broke the hearts of almost everyone as it showed Jecki and Yord being killed by Qimir (played by Manny Jacinto).

Fans loved the two characters and wanted their story to continue. Unfortunately, showrunner Leslye Headland had some other plans in mind that left everybody baffled. On top of that, Jecki’s death broke one of Disney’s rules as Star Wars rarely had a scene that featured killing a child.

Headland has recently shared a few words regarding their death in an interview with ComicBook

It was always the plan to kill them in Episode 5 halfway through the season.

However, she also explained that just because both Yord and Jeckie are shown dead in the show, it doesn’t mean they won’t have screen time in upcoming projects. She added that they have bigger background stories and hence the team can come up with some other way to bring them back to the screens.

Although the death of both Yord and Jeckie has indeed broken the hearts of many fans, the reassurance from Headland must give them some sort of relief for sure.

The Star Wars fans are having a bad time digesting the death of their two most loved characters. However, the actors who played the characters are quite casual about it. American actor Charlie Barnett as well as Spanish actress Dafne Keen are joking about their deaths while the entire fandom is sad about it.

While talking to Entertainment Weekly, Barnett revealed how he and Keen felt about their deaths in The Acolyte

No one ever wants to be cut out of a show. But when you’re playing a character that you know is going to die, it’s a little more fun.

He further said that he and Keen used to joke about their deaths while on the set by saying things like they only have two more weeks to live and all. Barnett also mentioned that he was a little hesitant about the kind of death that waited for Keen.
