X-Men couldn’t possibly be a more obvious allegory for equality and tolerance. They are literal social justice warriors. If you can’t handle this, I don’t know, man… I’ve heard good things about COCOMELON.

However, fans even believe that Marvel has finally done justice to the character of Cyclops in X-Men ’97. One of the founding members of the iconic mutant team, Cyclops’s character was reduced to a supporting role in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies. According to the fans, Marvel is finally making up for the ill-treatment of Cyclops by the 20th Century Fox. The role of Cyclops was played by actor James Marsden in 20th Century Fox’s projects. The character of Cyclops met with an unfortunate fate in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.

X-Men ’97 Showrunner Jake Castorena On The Revival Of X-Men: The Animated Series

During a recent interview with Radio Times.com X-Men ’97 director Jake Castorena spoke about the animated series. As the head showrunner, Castorena revealed that the much-hyped animated series is the spiritual successor of the 1992 popular superhero series. He mentioned that the recently launched animated series is not a reboot or a retelling, instead it is a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series. He said-

“At the end of the day, we are a spiritual successor – we are a revival. I can tout this until I’m blue in the face – we’re not a reboot, we’re not a retelling… the goal is to be able to watch the OG show and go right into ours… or start with our show and go right into the OG show.”

While talking about sticking to the theme song and title of the animated series, Jake Castorena revealed that these two aspects were never in doubt. He said-

“If we’re going to do something that [means] we’re in a sandbox, there’s automatically certain things that we should do, verbatim, that should just be in the DNA of our show from day one – and yes, the theme and the main titles were never in doubt.”

X-Men ’97 star cast includes Ray Chase as Scott Summers, Allison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Jennifer Hale as Jean Gray, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, and Matthew Waterson as Magneto. The series picks up from the death of the mutant leader Charles Xavier.
