“They imagined me with someone younger”: Florence Pugh Trashes Haters For Having 21 Years Older Boyfriend, Claims It’s Better Than Having Young Partners
In a recent Vogue cover story, Florence Pugh opened up about her split with ex-boyfriend Zach Braff. She discussed the public scrutiny that came with her relationship with Braff. Their pairing was not really popular among fans and the media from start to end. This was obviously due to the fact that the two had a 21-year age gap, which did not sit right with many.
After three years of dating the pair finally called it quits mutually, but they are still on friendly terms. It is evident from both their interviews post-break-up that the split has not affected their respect for each other. The split was announced in September 2022 and according to Pugh, it occurred quietly to prevent any more negative judgments from the public.
Florence Pugh on Media’s Negative Opinion of Her Dating an Older Man
Following her break up with ex-boyfriend Zach Braff last year, Florence Pugh recently shared her thoughts on the relationship and its perception by the media. In January’s Vogue Cover story, she discussed how from the beginning of her relationship with Braff, it had been an unpopular idea among fans and the media. According to her, this was definitely a consequence of the 21-year age gap between them. As the media likes to play with the relationships of young celebrity couples, therefore, Pugh’s relationship did not allow them to milk it. She shared,
“I think young relationships in Hollywood are so easily twisted because they add to the gossip sites,”
Furthermore, she talked about how she disappointed people by dating someone way older than her. The Don’t Worry Darling actor said, “They imagined me with someone younger and someone in blockbusters.” And since her relationship did not fit the popular assumption, it led to scrutiny and criticism instead. According to Pugh, even after keeping her relationship quiet without any drama, people still disliked it.
Their Relationship and How it Came to End
Florence Pugh met Zach Braff through their mutual friend back in 2019. Their first public appearance together was in New York City that year, which sparked dating rumors. And only in December of that year did the relationship get confirmed. Unfortunately, the relationship received lots of negative responses from people. And according to the Little Women actor, the criticism was uncalled for as she never put the relationship up for scrutiny. However, after three years of dating the two decided to call it quits in August 2022. Pugh Confirmed it in the September issue of Harper’s BAZAAR cover story.
She shared, “We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing”. Further, the Lady Macbeth star shared the reason to keep the split low-key. She gave the reason saying people already had a lot of negative and unasked opinions about it. But despite everything, she is still on friendly terms with Braff, and they both share a mutual respect for each other.
