A fan artist has reimagined Timothée Chalamet as Spider-Man beside Zendaya’s MJ from Spider-Man: No Way Home in a promotional image. Dune, which debuted this weekend, outperformed its Warner Bros. counterpart, The Suicide Squad, by $1 million on opening night.

Zendaya is having quite the season!

Zendaya, who portrays Chani in Dune, is having a fantastic year. She will reprise her role as MJ in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third instalment in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, in addition to appearing in the sci-fi epic. The fourth film in Phase 4 and the 27th overall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is planned to hit theatres on December 17, 2021.

Samuel Cheve, a Parisian artist and graphic designer, shared a piece of crossover artwork on Instagram that brightens up Entertainment Weekly’s Dune cover photo with Zendaya and Chalamet. The artist is known for his mashups, with prior works including Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man as Venom and Mulan as a Squid Game contestant. This time, he used Zendaya’s fantastic fall season to picture what it would be like if Chalamet took Holland’s place as the Peter Parker to her MJ. Take a look at the following post:

The artist also provided a sneak peek at the initial photographs, allowing viewers to see how far the actors have progressed in becoming their Spider-Man personas. Cheve significantly changed the planned “fashion shot at sunset” mood by adding a cityscape background and dressing Chalamet in vintage Spidey lycra. At first glance, those browsing through their Instagram feeds may believe this was an authentic shot from a Marvel film.

Samuel Cheve could be onto something here. The Spider-Man films and their intellectual property have been the subject of a long corporate tug-of-war, to the point where the cast and crew of Spider-Man: Far From Home were unaware of the Sony-Marvel contractual deadlock at the time. If Holland leaves the role or a competing Spider-Man picture is greenlit after Spider-Man: No Way Home, studios may be tempted to cast the Dune actor in the role.
