Her upcoming flick is Borderlands, a film adaptation of a famous video game that gained fame overnight. Blanchett is the lead character of the movie called Lilith, who leads a group of bizarre characters into an exciting yet deadly adventure. The gun-slinging outlaw is said to be one of the most fun and eccentric characters the actress has played so far.

Cate Blanchett is known to take up more serious and demanding roles that transform her routine and lifestyle completely. She prepped intensively to emulate the central character of the 2022 musical movie Tár. Now, her upcoming role in Borderlands is something different altogether.
Her character Lilith is an outlaw, but is incredibly relatable and fun to be around. Choosing to do such a role may have been a difficult choice for an established actress such as Blanchett. She revealed to Empire the reason she was drawn to the movie,
The crazy asks are usually the things I gravitate towards; the things I could never conceive of. I think there also may have been a little Covid madness — I was spending a lot of time in the garden, using the chainsaw a little too freely. My husband said, ‘This film could save your life.’ My thumbs can barely control a phone, but I bought a PS5 and we played each other. I wanted to know the limits of the game and what fans loved about the character. I got really absorbed in that whole world. The cosplayers. The YouTube make-up tutorials.
Blanchett made sure she did her research by immersing herself in the game before diving into the film production. Nonetheless, the pandemic drove many people to madness, and seems like a successful actress like Blanchett couldn’t escape the drudgery either. Borderlands seems like an escape route for the actress to get out of the mundaneness of work and have fun on set.
