Amber Heard is set to reprise her role as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman 2 alongside Jason Momoa. Her highly publicized legal battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp, however, has ruined her career.  It’s interesting to recall that following the release of the first Aquaman movie in 2018, it was rumored that director James Wan and DC Studios contemplated firing her. Elon Musk, Amber Heard’s ex-boyfriend, stepped in and allegedly threatened Warner Bros. on her behalf, according to reports. Some DC fans didn’t like how the tale took a turn.

Elon Musk saved his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard from getting fired

In an unexpected turn of events, Elon Musk, the wealthy tech tycoon, seems to have played a hero’s role in the narrative of actress Amber Heard. The saga started when the Aquaman 2 trailer was unveiled and court records from Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s bitter legal dispute were leaked. In the middle of all this, it was claimed that Heard’s co-star in the movie, Jason Momoa, wanted her dropped from the production. Elon Musk, Heard’s claimed ex-boyfriend, intervened to turn the situation around.

Following Aquaman‘s huge success in 2018, the studio and filmmaker James Wan took a risk by continuing to work on the sequel without Amber Heard. They gave a lack of chemistry between her and Momoa as the reason. This indicated that this choice had been taken independently and before any claims of improper conduct on Momoa’s behalf.

In order to save the situation, Elon Musk used his legal team to write a stern letter to Warner Bros that effectively threatened severe consequences if Heard were fired from the project. This shocking turn of events persuaded the studio to keep Amber Heard in the film. However, DC fans did not take this threat kindly.

Warner Bros. faced difficulties as a result of Elon Musk allegedly threatening the studio, as reported by Variety, by having his lawyers issue a “scorched-earth letter” with dire consequences. However, Warner Bros ultimately chose to continue using Amber Heard for the Aquaman franchise. Many DC fans, however, were not pleased with this decision.

One X user strongly disapproved of Musk’s activities and wrote “This is despicable” and “disgusting.” Her tweet rapidly attracted attention, and other DC fans joined in to express their unhappiness.

Many fans said that Musk used blackmail to get what he wanted, while others found it hard to believe that a well-known person like Musk would use such measures. This sparked a passionate debate among DC fans.

Whether these claims are true or not, no one can deny that a new beginning in the world of DC Films is approaching. The new CEOs, James Gunn and Peter Safran, are preparing to revive the superhero franchise. After Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom releases on December 20, 2023, this transition will take place, promising fans thrilling surprises.
