George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones proclaimed as one of the most successful series, spans generations, wars, and dragons, and holds up as one of the top-rated television series of all time. The show has become a cultural phenomenon that continues to leave a lasting impact on the fantasy genre. 

Emilia Clarke, with her remarkable portrayal of the Targaryen Queen, aka Mother of Dragons, has become an iconic figure in the Game of Thrones universe. Ever since Game of Thrones, her distinctive presence has been witnessed in various franchises and movies and now she has finally landed her debut in the epic franchise Marvel’s Secret Invasion.

Emilia Clarke prefers Marvel over other franchises

In an interaction with Kevin Polowy of Yahoo Entertainments, Emilia Clarke shares the experience she had with Marvel, saying it’s the best franchise she has worked with so far. Clarke who plays G’iah, the daughter of Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn, expresses her preference that “there is not a lot of drama” at Marvel compared to other franchises she has done.

“It’s just the best one; it’s not just a superhero franchise, it’s Marvel! It’s totally different and lives separately from everything else”.

She praised the talented cast and crew she worked with, describing them as incredibly dedicated and passionate about their craft. 

“There’s an ease and calm that I think comes with them being the best, maybe understanding that they’re the best, and having all the stuff. And then having this cast is just completely mind-blowing.”

Emilia Clarke’s wild ride through other franchises

Clarke, who played the fierce character of Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones, said she had a unique experience and it was just a big thing in her life. 

“Game of Thrones was such a unique experience for me because we didn’t know what the hell we were doing most of the time. And then it just became this big thing, and we just rode that journey all the way. This is where you’re stepping in, and everyone is already doing their A-game.”

Before into Marvel, she also made an appearance in Star Wars films, and Terminator Genisys which earned a lot of criticism. Harrison Ford’s replacement, followed by other production-related problems like losing its original directors, caused a lot of backlash. Many people felt that Terminator Genisys wasn’t essential because the franchise’s more recent movies had all garnered negative reviews. However, even Daenerys’s character in the final season of Game of Thrones caused a lot of fan discord and damaged the series’ final episode.

Given that, it is easy to understand why Clarke enjoys her time at Marvel so much, collaborating on the series Secret Invasion with a cast that includes several A-list actors. As she continued, her excitement was evident in her voice. Clarke summarized her thoughts by saying that she was genuinely having a wicked time on Marvel set, though; they’re brilliant. Clarke was very explicit about her feelings and also addressed the MCU’s reputation in the industry as a whole.
