EA Games is way far from finished with the popular Star Wars universe. EA is now working on three more Star Wars games, where all are being overseen in a single form or another by known developer Respawn Entertainment. The games shall also comprise a sequel to an FPS, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and a strategy game. Until now, we do not have any release dates yet offered for any of the new game releases.

This upcoming game in the Star Wars: Jedi series – which was earlier confirmed to be the very start of a franchise a few months after its 2019 release – will again be helmed by Stig Asmussen, who had earlier led the development of the first game alongside the beloved God of War 3.

The sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order will be ultimately joined by two more games, all set in the Star Wars universe, as the two of them as yet unnamed. Among the first-person shooter led by Peter Hirschmann, who had also previously served as the Vice President of Development at LucasArts, has had shared a long history of working with Lucasfilm, as they co-created Medal of Honor.

The other game will be a strategy one developed by a recently-formed studio, Bit Reactor, and is composed of Firaxis Games veterans who are best-known for their work on the XCOM franchise. Bit Reactor will be working quite closely with Respawn on the upcoming project.

Respawn Group GM Vince Zampella and founder will be overseeing this three-game initiative, which EA has characterizeed as “a new phase of EA’s relationship with Lucasfilm.”

The announcements solidify EA’s immediate future with the Star Wars franchise, which faced questions after Lucasfilm announced that Ubisoft would be developing a new game based on the series. Prior to that announcement, EA had been the exclusive developer of Star Wars games since 2013, its releases including two Star Wars: Battlefront games, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Squadrons, and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.

“We are proud of our long-standing collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, which will continue for years to come,” EA said at the time.

While all work has already started on all three games, this strategy game by Bit Reactor looks to be the earliest underway, as the studio was revealed quite recently. s per  Bit Reactor CEO Greg Foerstch, the deal came together “out of the blue.”

“We had been building a few prototypes and concepts for games and we were chatting with our friends at Respawn about a few of them when out of the blue I got a call from Vince and he asked me my thoughts on making a Star Wars game,” Foerstch says. “I had one of the most important voices in the industry asking me about creating a game within the most impactful franchise in the world and richest storylines in the history of entertainment. So here we are, and I can’t express how excited we are to be building a Star Wars strategy game here at Bit Reactor.”

The three new Star Wars projects by EA will join several other games currently underway, including the remake of Aspyr’s Knights of the Old Republic and even Quantic Dream’s High Republic game. They are what appears to be a much broader push to attract more Star Wars games on the market after the recent formation of Lucasfilm Games. However, meanwhile, IGN understands that the success shared by Respawn with Jedi: Fallen Order has solidified its position as EA’s lead Star Wars developer moving ahead. The rise of the studio has coincided with Zampella, who also recently added DICE to a portfolio including Respawn and Ripple Effect Studios. All these three projects are hiring at the moment, and EA hasn’t shared any information regarding potential release dates yet.
