“I’m at a place in my life and my career where it’s time to be brave. It’s time to push. There’s a lot of people who don’t think I can do an American accent… And when I spoke to people about the fact that I was going to play a sheriff, there was kind of this side look of slight doubt, which also encouraged me further.”
While promoting The Mummy with her costars, Wallis appeared on The Graham Norton Show, where she shared a hilarious incident involving Mission Impossible hero Tom Cruise. Nobody can deny how charming and popular Cruise is, not even Wallis and her friends. The actress shared with the audience a tidbit where her friends came to visit her on the set of The Mummy.

When Wallis introduced Cruise to her friends, he asked Wallis to watch him make her friends his. All it took from Cruise was a slight wave, and all her friends went gaga. In a moment of slight arrogance, Cruise turned to Wallis and said, “They’re my friends now.” The audience and the host erupt into massive laughter after this story despite Cruise constantly denying it. He laughed and said that was not what happened in reality and that Wallis was making it up.

In a bizarre habit, it’s said that Cruise does not let anyone run with him onscreen. We don’t know if it’s because Cruise wants the spotlight for himself or doesn’t want anyone to outrun him. In The Hollywood Reporter interview, Wallis further shared how Cruise made an exception for her and how happy it made her.
“I got to run on-screen with him, but he told me no at first. He said, ‘Nobody runs on-screen [with me],’ and I said, ‘But I’m a really good runner. So, I would time my treadmill so that he’d walk in and see me run. And then he added all these running scenes. So, that was it. It was, like, better than an Oscar. I was so happy! I was so happy that I got to run on-screen with Tom Cruise.”
Wallis did everything she could to make a good impression on the action hero since his approval in the industry meant a lot. The duo shared a great equation while filming and promoting the film. Cruise even complimented the actress for her hard work and amazing skills in later interviews.
