Comedian Jay Mohr, who starred with Tom Cruise in the iconic $273 Million (via The Numbers) romantic comedy Jerry Maguire, recently praised the Hollywood star. Mohr played Bob Sugar, the ambitious young protégé to Cruise’s sports agent character.

Jerry Maguire is a heartwarming tale about a top sports agent who leaves his job to follow his heart. Cruise plays Jerry, who starts his own agency and bets on a talented but challenging football player, Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr.). Along the way, he falls for his accountant, Dorothy Boyd (Renée Zellweger), and learns to value people over profits. In an interview with US Weekly, Mohr said:

I think Tom Cruise is the coolest person I’ve ever met.

He saw Jerry Maguire as his big break, admitting he was new and nervous on set. However, Cruise’s supportive attitude helped him do well. I had no idea what I was doing. I think I was too young and dumb to be nervous,” the actor shared. His experience shows Cruise as an ideal co-star, someone who can inspire and elevate those around him.

Brad Pitt’s Difficult Experience Working with Tom Cruise

Unlike Jay Mohr’s positive review, Brad Pitt‘s time working with Tom Cruise on the 1994 vampire drama Interview with the Vampire was not so great. In the film, Cruise played Lestat de Lioncourt, the charismatic vampire, while Pitt played Louis de Pointe du Lac, the young plantation owner turned vampire.

According to Closer, Brad Pitt has openly admitted that Cruise “bugged” him during filming, saying he “really started resenting him.” Their styles clashed, with Cruise’s intense, method-like approach, sharply contrasting with Pitt’s more laid-back attitude.

Pitt described a competition between them that kept them from connecting deeply. They finished the film professionally, but their relationship was not friendly. These different stories show how complex Hollywood relationships can be. While Cruise is seen as the perfect co-star by many, Pitt’s experience suggests there’s another side to the megastar.
