Talking about the one memorable night where Cruise invited him for dinner after they filmed a big scene, made him realize that the production of the eighth part of the movie is far from over. Whigham, who plays Jasper Briggs, a US intelligence agent assigned to track Ethan Hunt and his team down, recalled,

We did this scene between Tom and myself, and then Tom said, ‘We’re going to go out to dinner.’ So we went out to dinner when I was done, and then Tom said, ‘Do you realize that we come out one year from today? And it’s going to be a sprint to finish the f***king thing.’

The actor added that it’s in that moment he realized that what Cruise and McQuarrie have in mind with the second Dead Reckoning (till now untitled) is going to make the audience go gaga. He noted that Cruise told him that he was going to film all summer, adding that he cannot even begin to explain how much efforts his makes for his movies. Whigham mentioned that the actor wants to make the upcoming movie like an adventure movie, and he and the director have an exact idea of what they want to do with it.

I said to Christopher McQuarrie, ‘I don’t want a bigger trailer. I don’t want more money. I don’t want better catering. I just want one scene between Tom and me where you, McQ, write it like, ‘The Usual Suspects, and we get a chance to get in there. And then he delivered.
