Top 5 Worst Changes in ‘Solo Leveling’ Season 2 Episode 10
- The rush to start the Jeju Island Raid seems to be convincing makers of Solo Leveling's anime that they can skip over certain story portions.
- Fans who have noticed this are complaining about the story being rushed and are suggesting the studio to take it slow and cover all necessary aspects.
- This season's Episode 10 in particular has changed several story beats from the manga, which have affected the development of certain characters.
Solo Leveling is one of the few anime that is very faithful about adapting its source material, and it has constantly impressed fans due to its dedication. Season 2’s Episode 10 however, saw the anime omitting and changing several scenes from the webtoon.
This has caused concern among fans, who have stated that while some of the changes don’t matter too much, too many changes can affect certain characters and moments. Here is our opinion about the Top 5 Worst changes in Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 10.
5. Chairman Go Gunhee was all bark and no bite in Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 10

Korea’s first S-Ranker and the Chairman of the Hunter’s Association, Go Gunhee is a true Hunter even when beyond his prime. In the webtoon’s Jeju Island Raid, he feels shameful as he sends the “young generation” to do the work that his generation failed to do.
He sincerely values the lives of the Raid team and even considers joining them, backing down only because he has a much bigger role.
In Solo Leveling’s anime, however, he never mentions the willingness to join the team and instead spends his time wishing for the raid to go well. This goes against his character and makes him feel like someone who takes the back seat, letting others sacrifice themselves for the goal, rather than being someone ready to fight when needed.
4. What happened to the Ahjin Guild?
It is a well-known fact that Sung Jinwoo decided to form a guild with Yoo Jinho, instead of joining an existing one, and the anime seems to have forgotten about this matter, with it not being mentioned for a few episodes.
Originally in the webtoon, Jinwoo purchases a place to use as his guild office and meets with Yoo Jinho to discuss the particulars of the guild, such as its name. As mentioned above, the anime seems to have forgotten about this matter, judging by how this particular instance was omitted from it.
3. Jinwoo lost an epic moment from the manga
When it comes to showing off the strength and intimidation factor of its protagonist, Solo Leveling never backs down, giving Jinwoo plenty of moments to stare down his opponents and cement his stance as one of history’s coldest protagonists.
What if we were to tell you that the Solo Leveling anime removed one such moment?
During the match with Goto Ryuji, when Jinwoo is hurt by his attack, we see him getting serious and blocking Ryuji’s attack. While this moment is constant in both sources, the webtoon goes the extra mile to assert Jinwoo’s strength.
As Ryuji’s eyes meet Jinwoo’s, everything goes black and all Ryuji can see are two never-ending abysses This scares him, making his face pale, and in that moment he understands how beneath Jinwoo he is.
2. Baek Yoonho didn’t go all out
In Solo Leveling, Baek Yoonho is considered to be one of the strongest S-Rank hunters in Korea, with him getting stronger when he unleashes his Magical Beast mode, causing him to transform. The only time he used this mode was during Solo Leveling’s Jeju Island Raid, and that was when he went all out.
This showed the fans just how amazing he was to have fought in the raid while holding back.
The Solo Leveling anime, of course, had to dunk on him, and stated that he was giving it his best and going all out during the training match with the Japanese Hunters, which is not only false, but also made him look very weak.
1. Choi Jong-In was done the dirtiest
Solo Leveling’s Ultimate Hunter, Choi Jong-In is perhaps the only character other than Jinwoo that exudes “main character energy” despite being a side character. He is such a legendary hunter that his nickname as the Ultimate Hunter was the inspiration for Sung’s previous nickname “Mankind’s Weakest Hunter”.
The Solo Leveling webtoon gives him plenty of opportunities to show off his expertise in Fire magic, with the Jeju Island Raid being one of them.
As soon as the raid starts, Choi Jong-In is the first to attack, reducing the ants to cinder with his magic. He then jumps out of the aircraft, attacks a few while mid-air, and takes out a whole group of ants while landing, all while his hands are in his pockets.
To top it off, he was even given a cold line, commenting about how his flames silenced the noisy creatures. And I don’t think I need to mention why removing this was a bad call by the makers of Solo Leveling’s anime.
While we understand that following a source material to the T is tough during adaptations, omitting scenes that hype up the side characters and expand on the side-plots can be damaging in the long run. Doing this will result in a lot of anime plotholes and continuity issues, confusing the viewers.
Solo Leveling is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
