When Triple H assumed the role of WWE’s Chief Content Officer in 2022, one of his first orders of business was addressing Vince McMahon’s questionable recent talent cuts. By re-signing fan favorites the old regime had severed ties with, The Game aimed to rectify his predecessor’s missteps. And in the case of ex-NXT standout Chelsea Green, Trips took an unconventional, hands-on approach to righting a wrong.

After signing with WWE in 2018, Green suffered setback after setback due to injury, struggling for momentum on the main roster. Despite strong potential, the powers that be ran out of patience in 2021, granting Green’s release as part of pandemic budget cuts.

Forced to start from scratch on the indie circuit, Green captured championships in other promotions, proving she had the talent to thrive with proper opportunity. Still, her main roster run ended abruptly just as she was getting started.

Green resurfaced in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, signaling she’d come to terms on a WWE return. Fans buzzed about her comeback, recalling the unfulfilled promise of her initial run.

The good vibes continued as Green portrayed an entertaining yet insufferable “Karen” character on Raw. Forming an alliance with Sonya Deville, the duo captured the Women’s Tag Team Championships in August.

While still early in her second act, Green seems primed to reach heights her first WWE stint never allowed. By unlocking her full potential, Triple H continues making his case as McMahon’s ideal successor.

As per Metro. co, Green’s WWE return quotes stemmed from an intrepid text to Triple H himself. As she recently revealed:

“I texted him [Triple H], and I said, ‘I want my job back,’ and he said, ‘Okay, call me.’ I was shocked. I want to go back to WWE. My story is not finished.”

Rather than feel embarrassed about directly asking for her job back, Green felt confident Triple H would see her side.

“At the end of the day, why are we embarrassed to ask for things?” she added. “I have asked to work for WWE probably 100 times, and I am not embarrassed about that one bit.”

Her self-advocacy paid off with a clean slate. Green seems determined to maximize her latest opportunity after Triple H undid McMahon’s shortsighted release.

More Returns Could Follow

In addition to Green, Triple H has welcomed back former talents like Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, Hit Row, and more. He appears intent on strengthening WWE’s roster by re-recruiting those his predecessor discarded.

If Green and others can recapture the momentum halted prematurely by past cuts, Triple H’s more forgiving leadership style could foster the next generation of headliners.

By opening WWE’s doors to deserving stars of the past, The Game inches the company away from McMahon’s misguided tendencies. And in cases like Chelsea Green, Triple H gives talent a chance to pick up where they left off.
