“Underneath that is genuine love story”: Ryan Reynolds Perfectly Sums Up His Relationship With Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine
The entire fandom is witness to the zest and eagerness with which Ryan Reynolds wanted to do a Deadpool and Wolverine team-up in a movie. Since the time they shared the screen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds has been envisioning a bigger collaboration between the two bickering mutants.
The time has finally come when real-life best friends Reynolds and Hugh Jackman collaborate for a movie none other than Deadpool & Wolverine which welcomes the mutants in the MCU fold. The highly awaited movie promises an adventure across the Multiverse as Deadpool sets the timeline right.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Spill Their Friendship Secrets
In a recent cover feature for Empire, long-time best friends Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman spoke about their evergreen friendship and their experience of working together in their most iconic roles. Jackman has played Wolverine for over 20 years which is an achievement in itself. The actor has remained incredibly fit to portray the role of energetic and enraged Wolverine.
Even though Jackman said Logan would be his last film as Wolverine, he couldn’t say no when Reynolds pitched him the idea of a collaborative flick. Talking about their bond and how amazing it was to go to work with his best friend, Reynolds said,
“As much as I take the ever-loving fucking piss out of him each and every day, underneath that is a genuine love story. As adversarial as we are in the movie, the undercurrent is one of real love. Getting to spend time with my two closest friends, and waking up in the morning with a passionate devotion to say something so horrendous that they fall over laughing is a gift.”
It’s no surprise that Reynolds loves playing Deadpool. It seems like his alter ego, an avatar he has no problem adorning whenever he deems fit. Fans are most excited to see Deadpool and Wolverine’s chemistry on screen which the actors’ real-life equation will impact. Even from the behind-the-scenes glimpses shared by the actors and the two trailers released, the movie appears to be one of the best action-packed adventures by Marvel to date.
Fate of MCU Hinges on Deadpool & Wolverine
The past few months have proved to be entirely tumultuous for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with changes in their plans for the upcoming phases. The studio has rewritten its entire strategy after multiple flops at the box office and a change in the main villain of the phase. Now, the entire fate of the MCU hinges on the performance of Deadpool & Wolverine as it will dictate how mutants will enter this universe.
Moreover, being the first R-rated movie in the MCU, the studio is going all in with its efforts to revive the golden days of Marvel when every movie was bound to be a blockbuster hit. Moreover, with the ever-increasing success of X-Men ‘97, it seems like a great time for the worlds of the mutants and the superheroes to converge and offer a more expansive view of the characters from Marvel comics.
