James Gunn is amping up the excitement for the rebooted DCU with the most iconic superhero from the comic books. It definitely wasn’t easy for David Corenswet to carry the baton from Henry Cavill, who has been one of the most beloved Supermen in cinematic history. Nevertheless, the first looks of the movie prove Corenswet has really put in the work to look the part.

With Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, and Nicholas Hoult as the mighty Lex Luthor, the makers of Superman have tapped into the potential of rising stars of Hollywood. James Gunn is directing the movie to fully bring his vision to life and establish a firm foundation for the universe to be built on. Superman is expected to be released on July 11, 2025.

Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow – June 26, 2026

Milly Alcock’s casting news as Supergirl was taken in great spirit by fans. Her performance in House of the Dragon outshone every other actor on the show, consolidating her place in the industry. Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow is expected to take her story ahead after an initial introduction in Superman, making it the second movie in the list of Gunn’s DC movies.

Expected to release on June 26, 2026, the movie will be directed by Craig Gillespie. Though the DCEU by Zack Snyder did not put much focus on Supergirl’s character, Gunn is trying to bring her into the mainstream and have her stand shoulder to shoulder with her cousin. The story of the movie is said to be adapted from Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, illustrated by Bilquis Evely.

The Batman Part II – October 2, 2026

The much-awaited sequel to Robert Pattinson’s Batman is also in the works. After the first movie garnered positive reviews, DC Studios couldn’t help but make a second part in the franchise. October 2, 2026 has been set as its release date for now.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman Part II will feature Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz as they reprise their roles. Though the movie was expected to be released around this time in 2025, a few delays caused it to be shifted to 2026. Moreover, the story of the project will continue from where the recent series The Penguin left off, making fans excited about Cristin Milioti’s possible appearance in the sequel.

The Authority – TBA

Inspired by the gore and violence of the series The Boys, Gunn and DC wish to emulate the same for this project. The first chapter in this DCU has been titled Gods and Monsters. The Authority is expected to be an ensemble movie for the ongoing segment in the universe.

We are still awaiting more details on the movie including the release date as it neither has any writer nor a director to date. The only confirmed aspect that seems to fit into the larger scheme of things is Maria De Faria’s Engineer who will be introduced in Superman. She is expected to have a larger role in driving The Authority.

The Brave And The Bold – TBA

After showcasing his take on the Kryptonian superhero, Gunn will set his sights on the Caped Crusader with The Brave and the Bold. Pattinson’s Batman is a part of DC Elseworlds which does not come under Gunn’s jurisdiction. This movie will finally showcase Gunn’s vision for Batman along with his protege Robin.

Written by Grant Morrison and directed by Andy Muschietti, the movie is yet to fix a release date. However, one of the most important aspects of this movie will be the introduction of Damian Wayne, Batman’s estranged son.

Swamp Thing – TBA

Projects like these truly shine a light on Gunn’s thirst for experimentation and innovation. Away from what has already been done to death in the DCU, the filmmaker is focusing on bringing more nuanced characters into the mainstream. Swamp Thing will dive into the horror genre and completely set the DCU apart from other similar franchises.

The mysterious character’s origins can be found in Alan Moore’s 1984 The Saga of the Swamp Thing which will form a foundation for the movie too. James Mangold will be writing and directing the movie, claiming it will be a standalone project. There has been no announcement for the cast or release date for the movie.

Dynamic Duo – TBA

Touted to be an animated feature in the DCU, Matthew Aldrich is writing the script for Dynamic Duo. It will reportedly follow the lives of two prominent sidekicks to Batman, Jason Todd and Dick Grayson. The animated movie will follow their life experiences after ending their stints with the Caped Crusader.

Director Arthur Mintz is further linked to the project, bringing an air of freshness to the narrative. No release date has been announced as of yet.

Constantine 2 – TBA

More than the sequel of the movie, fans are excited to see Keanu Reeves reprise his role as Constantine. The original movie was released in 2005, though did not garner as much love as the makers hoped.

With a sequel, DC may correct its past mistakes and give the movie a strong plotline. Reeves previously shared that a great script for the movie is awaited after which the project will be kickstarted into motion. No further details have been divulged yet.

Teen Titans – TBA

After writing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, seems like Gunn is keeping Ana Nogueira busy as she has been roped in to pen a script for Teen Titans. Given the introduction of younger heroes in The Brave and The Bold and Blue Beetle, it makes sense for DC to have a movie that consolidates these youngsters.

Moreover, Teen Titans is an appealing title for all generations, bringing together the varied target groups of the fandom. The story of the movie is said to be set alongside the events of Superman and The Brave and the Bold.
