Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s post-credits scene subtly linked Tom Hardy’s Venom to Topher Grace’s Venom from Spider-Man 3 through the concept of Multiverse. The long-awaited sequel of 2018’s release, Venom, is finally here that puts Hardy’s symbiote against Carnage. But in the end, the film’s post-credits scene completely changes the franchise’s and Venom’s future. By doing so, the sequel has connected Hardy’s Venom to the one played by Topher Grace in 2007’s Spider-Man 3.
While both Venom and Sony have operated in a separate universe before, Venom: Let There Be Carnage brought Hardy’s Venom to the MCU. The scene starts with Brock playing in it and watching TV in a hotel room. Apparently, when he starts to talk with Venom about life, Venom offers Eddie to show a glimpse of what he already knows. But they never get a chance to share the glimpse as the multiverse cracks and they jump into the main MCU timeline. This gets confirmed as Venom and Eddie discover J. Jonah Jameson’s breaking news that Peter Parker is Spider-Man with Holland’s unmasked face on the TV.
Venom in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline is a big deal but apparently, Venom: Let There Be Carnage also skipped an important thing. While there could be multiple Venoms around the Multiverse, the only live-action Venom came in Spider-Man 3, thanks to Grace. It means somehow both the Venoms are connected and due to this, there is a huge possibility that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man can appear in No Way Home. With that said, Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s post-credits scene also introduced the franchise in the same canon and that is how Maguire’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home puts both Venom in the same universe.
Now since Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was the reason behind killing Venom in Spider-Man 3, this could be a massive threat. As a result, Tom Hardy’s Venom could view Holland’s Spider-Man as an enemy and deliver a fight in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is all set to hit the theaters on December 17, 2021.
