Snow White Director’s Son Calls Disney Live-Action Remake a ‘Disgrace’

By Anadya Narain

Scheduled for release in 2024, Disney is set to debut "Snow White," a live-action adaptation of their beloved animated classic.

Taking on the role of Snow White will be Rachel Zegler, while Gal Gadot will portray the character of the Evil Queen.

The movie sparked controversy by casting a Latina actress as the lead and choosing non-little people for the dwarf roles from the source material.

David Hand, son of the director who helmed the original 1937 movie, expressed that his father and Walt Disney would be deeply dismayed, describing the new casting choices as "insulting" to the integrity of the original film.

Hand expressed that he would rather Disney's original animated films be left unchanged. He viewed the remake as a "disgrace" for trying to bring something new to a work that had already been highly successful.

Disney has remained silent regarding the controversy and has not provided any comment on this recent development.
