“We’ve been saved”: Sakamoto Days Fans Take a Breath of Fresh Air with a News No Other Anime Fan Likes to Hear
According to the latest update from License Global, Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days has been removed from the list of upcoming releases on Netflix, which under normal circumstances would have earned any fandom’s disapproval and ire. But not this time!
The update comes right at the heels of the May issue of the magazine that claimed that the highly anticipated series was officially slated for a 2024 release on Netflix, with the streaming giants reportedly acquiring the rights.
Things Are Not Looking Good For Sakamoto Days
Although the news was initially well-received by the fans, it comes with a fair share of problems. Fans are engaged in an internal conflict while they digest the news, given that the announcement itself is weak.
That’s not all though. Fans have pointed out that despite stating a 2024 release, there is no confirmed animation studio, no first look or key visual, and no voice cast either. The anime seems to have no foundation at the moment and little to no time for it to be produced.
releasing 2024 and we haven’t seen mention of a studio, trailer, key visual, or voice cast…we about to witness true horror https://t.co/CxveeSylYo

If a major studio were to pick up Sakamoto Days, the animators would be overworked and the quality of all the animes that get mixed up in the chaos would suffer. Furthermore, there’s very little possibility that the future anime will be deemed promising at this point without any solid info.
Fans Are Relieved As Sakamoto Days Gets Removed From License Global’s Listing
Although it is still unclear whether the anime is still slated for 2024 or has been delayed following the removal of Sakamoto Days from License Global’s listing, fans seem to be relieved about the news nonetheless.
"Sakamoto Days" has been removed from the Upcoming Netflix Releases on "License Global" which personally to me makes it even more believable than otherwise, lol. https://t.co/MVntME4iR2

While the news in itself may come as a surprise to fans, it is the fact that Netflix has even picked the anime up that is more peculiar. The reason for this hesitation comes from the fact that there is yet to be an official announcement about the series.
Sakamoto Days is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump since November 2020, with 16 tankobon volumes as of April 2024.
