What if…? Is Captain Carter Deserving Of Lifting The Mjolnir ?
What If…? has created a group of odd heroes who may have been in the original timeline. The sheer fact that they exist because of alterations in the original chronology adds to their allure. While some of these people provided a lighthearted tale, others had a more profound emotional influence. Some of these people may have become true villains if they hadn’t changed their aims and taken a risk in rescuing the multiverse. The series drops hints and facts about the characters that make us ponder certain aspects of them. This provides fans even more incentive to compare these characters to their film adaptations from the original timeframe. One of these scenarios makes us ponder if Captain Carter from What If…? is worthy of wielding Mjolnir.
What If…?
The end of What If…? included an intense combat sequence with a band of heroes subsequently dubbed the Guardians of the Multiverse. At the conclusion of the day, they save the multiverse and are subsequently returned to their own universes. These heroes have intriguing backstories that make us wonder what motivated their opinions. Among them are our heroes, each with their own story, and there is a possibility we may see them again.
Captain Carter:
Captain Carter, Peggy Carter’s character, has to be one of the most intriguing additions to the tales. This was a very dramatic twist in the main MCU timeline’s plot. The first episode told the narrative of Peggy taking up the Super Soldier project instead of Steve Rogers. She transforms into Captain Carter and goes to fight in the battle, giving us a Captain America-like character. The gateway that appears at the end of the episode transports her to the future. There, she continues to have her own story, which is quite similar to Captain America’s.
Given that the majority of her story is quite similar to Captain America’s, we can only speculate on what additional parallels the character may have. Captain America proves himself worthy of wielding the Mjolnir during the confrontation with Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. Now, he just extends his hand, and the Mjolnir rushes towards him. This merit was also hinted at in a previous film with a minor movement in Avengers: Age Of Ultron when Steve tries to take up the hammer. We have to question if Captain Carter is also deserving of holding the hammer.
Is Captain Carter Worthy?
There is a scene in the animated series’ end where we get a glimmer of her being worthy of wielding Mjolnir. Toward the end of the film, the heroes devise a strategy to take Ultron’s Soul Stone. This strategy is based on Captain Carter blasting Ultron with her shield. She does just that, and later, when she is seeking a way to get back on solid ground, she discovers the Mjolnir. She snatches it just as it’s about to return to Thor. Even though this is a little occurrence, it makes us question if it is a sign of her merit.
Captain Carter may be worthy of carrying the hammer because she displays a noble persona throughout her appearances in the series. She seemed to be putting herself in constant danger in order to help others. She maintains her altruistic demeanour when she agrees to disagree and travels to an alternate era for Steve Rogers. We can safely assume that since Captain America can wield Mjolnir, no matter how strange her reality is, Captain Carter can certainly wield the hammer. But, what are your opinions on the subject?
