It was confirmed last year that X-Men ’97 won’t end with just one season, and will run for multiple seasons. The showrunner and executive producer of this newly released series Beau DeMayo has been fired after he completed his work in seasons 1 and 2 (via Variety). This news came before the March 13 Hollywood premiere of X-Men ’97, and the exact reason behind his firing hasn’t been revealed yet.

The first season will continue the story of X-Men: The Animated Series, but will see Magneto as the new leader instead of Professor X. This divergence from the traditional story will likely help X-Men ’97 generate excitement among fans. The newcomers include Sunspot, Nightcrawler, Bishop, and Cable. Most of the plot details about X-Men ’97 have been kept under wraps, and now that the first episode is out, fans can witness what’s happening with our iconic superheroes.
