“Who nowadays can afford to leave $18 Billion on the table”: Eva Longoria Vows to Deal With a Huge Problem in Hollywood That Could Earn Billions For Her Production Company
Modern actors in Hollywood today are not satisfied with just acting. They have unique ideas and visionary concepts that they wish to bring to life and hence, are making movies of their own. From Kevin Costner’s passion project to John Krasinski’s actor-turned-writer-director stint, ambitious celebrities are achieving it all.
Another actor on this journey is Eva Longoria, known for being a part of projects like Desperate Housewives and Unplugging. She is not just an actress with roles of writer, producer, and businesswoman on her resume.
Eva Longoria Wishes to Change Hollywood for the Better
As a Latino-American actress, Eva Longoria has been a part of the industry for many years. From movies to popular TV shows, Longoria’s filmography is as wide as it is diverse. Now, empowered with her own production house, Hyphenate, Longoria is on a mission to change Hollywood for the better. She wishes to target one issue at a time, with Latino representation at the top of her list. In a conversation with Deadline, she said,
It’s not a question of whether there’s space for this inclusive content. That’s the wrong question. The question is who nowadays really can afford to leave $18 billion on the table? This is about a business solution. Part of the point of Hyphenate is not to ignore the money on the table.
We’ve decided to create content for the growing market, not the shrinking market. Half of Gen Z is non-white. A full 25% of Gen Z is Latino. The question should be, who’s going to want to miss out on making the most compelling content for that generation?
The actress has her eyes set on the agenda as she wishes to consolidate her target audience and create content that resonates with the most viewers. Longoria has put her finger on the pulse of society and her production house can successfully release projects that appeal to that burgeoning segment of people.
At the same time, she is championing apt representation for her people who deserve to have their stories told.
How will Eva Longoria’s Hyphenate bridge the gap?
Longoria is not all talk as she has a plan of action to prove her far-sighted views. With her production house, Longoria is planning to overcome transient hurdles and focus on themes that affect Latino and Mexican-American people. She is willing to take risks and reap the benefits simultaneously. Speaking about her business model, Longoria said,
Our business model makes us have skin in the game, take risks as well with the studios and networks and platforms. That changes the status quo, that changes the relationship and that’s what I want. I don’t want to be an employee. I want to be a partner, there’s value in that for everyone.
Along with sharing their stories, Longoria is also connected to the ground reality as her eponymous foundation is helping in educational and economic progress for Latinas. Armed with a donation by Jeff Bezos, Longoria is making a real difference in the world with her work and her incredible philanthropic ventures.
