Angelina Jolie has a reputation for playing some badass characters in the movies. The 47-year-old actress has never shied away from doing action movies, giving Hollywood some of the biggest hits of all time like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Original Sin, Salt, and many more.
One of Jolie’s massive hit movies was Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. The actress was very young when she played this wild child character, but, Jolie also talked about how difficult things were for her while filming the movie.

Angelina Jolie said she got scratched and burned while filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
The movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider introduced Angelina Jolie as the superstar of Hollywood. The movie earned $274 million and got the Original Sin actress much-needed fame and fortune. Although shooting this movie wasn’t an easy job for Jolie. She went through a slew of challenges while filming this movie.
But Brad Pitt’s ex-wife didn’t lose her cool and managed to stay resilient throughout the shooting of the movie. While talking about the difficulties she faced during the filming in one of the interviews, Jolie said,
“I got dirty, scratched, and burnt but those were great problems to have, because I felt like I was actually her in a certain way.”
Stunt Coordinator Simon Crane applauded Jolie for her resilience and the way she performed in all the action stunts. Even though the actress had several injuries, reportedly, she kept filming for the movie.
She didn’t want her character in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider to be oversexualized
Jolie’s feisty and fearless character in the movie made her the queen of the hearts. The makers dressed Jolie a certain way for her character Lara Croft. She mentioned in an interview that she wore a padded bra for the costume, but didn’t want her character to be over-sexualized.
Jolie wanted her character to be known for her strengths, not her physical appearance. In a statement, while talking about the movie and her character, Jolie said,
“I was trying really hard not to cry. It was, ‘Why has someone superimposed a gun right in between my legs?’ or ‘My breasts are big enough—why are they enhanced that much bigger?’ I don’t like seeing her in that position. She’s so much like me.”
After the movie was released on 11 June 2001, the movie turned into a huge success. The story and Jolie’s performance were appreciated by the audience. The makers of the movie came back with a sequel of the movie and named it Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life which hit the big screens on 21 July 2003. Reportedly, Jolie had kept certain conditions before joining the cast of her superhit movie’s sequel.
