While talking to Screenrant, he explained the circumstances that led to Ultron being chosen as What If…?’s villain. “Well, I think any comic book lover knows Ultron in the comics is absolutely terrifying,” Bradley began. “Age of Ultron is great but was only one movie and at times, to me, it didn’t seem to give that classic villain enough screen time that I would have given him.”

Bradley joked about how Marvel can “only fit that much in such movies.” He further that, What If…? was their only opportunity to show what Ultron was truly capable of. “And also, now as we’re hitting Phase 4, we have the Infinity Stones in play, we have the Multiverse, so what would happen if Ultron got the Infinity Gauntlet?” she continued.”How bad would it get? And it’s quite easy to jump to complete devastation!”

The first season of What If…? got over with the episode ‘What If… The Watcher Broke His Own Oath?” that saw The Watcher bring the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight an Infinity Stone powered Ultron. The episode ended with Infinity Ultron, now under Arnim Zola’s control, getting trapped in a dimension with Guardian Killmonger which was later turned to Strange Supreme to watch over.

However, the details for the next season of What If…? are still obscure. Bradley has promised that the post-credits scene of the series will certainly pay off in the next season. She also revealed that the season will see the debut of Gamora and Iron Man, which she stated was pushed back due to the pandemic’s impact on the animation house.

The first season of What If…? is streaming on Disney+ and features many MCU stars voicing their characters.

These include Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hayley Atwell, Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan,  Toby Jones, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Michael Rooker, Josh Brolin, Benicio del Toro, Clark Gregg, Frank Grillo, Jaimie Alexander, and Rachel McAdams, among others.
