During the highly publicized Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s defamation trial, a lot of petitions were made to get rid of Amber Heard from DC’s upcoming movie, Aquaman 2. One of the petitions on Change.org recently crossed 4.6 million signatures. This particular petition was made back when Johnny Depp sued The Sun for defamation after they referred to him as a “wife beater” in an article. Amber Heard’s supporters are furious that no petitions were made for Shia LaBeouf, Ezra Miller, or Armie Hammer even after all the controversies they caused.
Over 4 million people signed the petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2
The “Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2” petition on change.org has over 4 million signs. At 6 million signatures, this petition will become one of the most signed petitions on the website. It was made in 2018 when actor Johnny Depp sued The Sun for defamation after they referred to him as a “wife beater” in one of their articles. Over the years, the petition gained a lot of signs and it just keeps on growing and growing. Actress Amber Heard played Mera in Aquaman and is expected to return in Aquaman 2, which is slated for release in December 2023. Johnny Depp’s fans don’t want to see her playing the role in the movie after she lost the defamation trial.
Amber Heard’s fans criticized the petition
Amber Heard’s supporters criticized the petition on social media. They pointed out that not a single petition was made for Shia LaBeouf, Ezra Miller, or Armie Hammer despite all the controversies they caused which were far more problematic than what the actress did.
This is so fucking rooted in misogyny and absolutely nothing else. Not one petition for Armie Hammer, Shia Labeouf or Ezra Miller. Fuck…Harvey Weinstein being granted an appeal didnt even make much noise. I used to think we were making progress but society has not changed. https://t.co/snmBZDxy3D

Earth’s population is 7.75 billion so that leaves roughly 7.70 billion who didn’t.

Will Warner Bros. replace Amber Heard?
No one can really tell if she will be removed from Aquaman 2. There were rumors that Warner Bros. is looking to star Emilia Clarke instead of Amber Heard as she lacked chemistry with the movie’s lead, Jason Momoa.
The actress is facing all of this criticism over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post back in 2018. In the op-ed, she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse in 2016. Johnny Depp then sued the actress claiming that she is defaming him. The court concluded that the op-ed was about Johnny Depp and he won the lawsuit. The actress was asked to pay damages of a total of $10.35 million. However, she also won on one account of defamation and was awarded $2 million.
Aquaman 2 is slated for release on December 25, 2023.
