“WTH is this Disney”: First Look of Dr. Doofenshmirtz for Disneyland California Has Everyone Gunning for Bob Iger’s Head
- Fans expressed disappointment with Dr. Doofenshmirtz's live meet-and-greet character at Disneyland.
- The upcoming season of 'Phineas and Ferb' will continue from where the show left off.
- Dan Povenmire reassured fans that the new episodes will maintain the essence of the original show.
Phineas and Ferb has been one of the most fan-favorite shows, especially for the early 2000s kids. And the good news is it is making a comeback after almost 10 years, and Disney is already hyping up its return by celebrating its characters.
Disneyland California also joined the celebration in their own unique way. This park is ready for the Halloween celebration with some new surprises. Among them, Dr. Doofenshmirtz recently caught some attention, but for the wrong reasons.
Disney Faces Backlash for Bringing Dr. Doofenshmirtz to Life
At Disneyland, there will be Oogie Boogie Bash from August 25th to the end of October. The list of villains this year will include Dr. Doofenshmirtz, the main antagonist of the Phineas and Ferb show, and the arch nemesis of Perry the Platypus.
The evil scientist’s character was created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, and Povenmire has given his voice in the show. Dr. Doofenshmirtz was given a peculiar look that consisted of a lanky frame, lab coat, and the hunch. The way he explained his evil plans in his Eastern European accent that got him in trouble made him a sympathetic villain.
Disney recently revealed the meet-and-greet live character of Dr. Doofenshmirtz which consisted the lab coat and a special headpiece to mimic Doofenshmirtz’s long head. Still, there was an inconsistency, which became a major topic of discussion for hardcore fans.
Many fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment, and netizens feel that the live-action version looks nothing like his animated counterpart.

The backlash has been so intense so far that Bob Iger might consider taking some immediate action against it. It seems that while trying to bring the character to life, Disney may have created an evil villain, but not the good kind like Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
Phineas and Ferb Is Returning With New Season
Apart from the Doofenshmirtz mishap, there is still a lot to look forward to for Phineas and Ferb fans. The show is coming with a new season, and it will pick up right where it left off. A new summer vacation will start one year after the events of the first season.
Dan Povenmire recently shared his emotional reaction after watching the first episode of the new season on his Instagram. He said, “I just saw the first episode and I think it’s really good.” His reaction must have excited the fans even more.
According to The Pop Insider, Povenmire revealed at New York Comic Con that he and other writers have tried to maintain the original theme for this new season as well. He said,
It’ll probably be the following summer. It’s basically the same show as before, we’ve got a lot of the same staff. We realized we hadn’t run out of ideas yet.
The new season will have 40 episodes and it will premiere on Disney+. However, there has not been any announcement regarding its release date yet.
So, it looks like fans can expect more catchy songs and quotable one-liners, especially from Ferb. As far as the live representation of Dr. Doofenshmirtz is concerned, fans can hope that their voices are heard, or maybe the new season might force Disney to give him a makeover.
Phineas and Ferb is available to stream on Disney+.
