“You have to wrestle to the death”: Henry Cavill Claimed He Had to Fight Tom Cruise to Ensure His Role in $791M Mission Impossible Movie Despite No Audition
Piloted by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission Impossible: Fallout is said to be the best among all the other films in the series. Thanks to Tom Cruises’ Ethan Hunt, who always comes with something bigger with each installment. The actor never fails to leave an impression on the loyal fans of the franchise.
Mission Impossible: Fallout was released in 2018 on the big screens, and like always, seeing Tom Cruise performing heart-wrenching stunts on his own, every fan got speechless. This time, the one reason that made the film even more exciting was the involvement of Henry Cavill, that too in a negative role. Moreover, shockingly Cavill did not have to go through any screenings or auditions to grab the role; in fact, he had to physically fight the lead actor, which was none other than Tom Cruise.
Henry Cavill wrestled with Tom Cruise to get the role in Mission Impossible: Fallout
In a recent interview, Cavill stated that getting to be a part of a Mission Impossible film was one the most enjoyable experiences he ever had. He also added that he was fourteen years old when the franchise came with the first film, so basically, he grew up watching the popular action film series.
However, in the interview, the Man of Steel actor also said that the struggle to get the role was real. He was not asked for an audition, but he was given a task to fight the film’s Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise).
We fought,” Cavill said. “We physically fought. It’s part of the thing; you have to wrestle to the death, and they stopped us just before we killed each other, and they say, ‘OK, cool, yeah, you have the part.
Every one of us knows how good Cavill is as an actor, but until he appeared in Mission Impossible: Fallout as the deadly assassin August Walker, we never knew there could be a different version of the actor as well. Since the actor began his acting career, he always appeared as a protagonist who’s seen fighting the bad guys. But now, we definitely know that when it comes to expanding horizons, Cavill can mold himself into any kind of role. Well, that’s how a true performer should be.

Henry Cavill wished to be part of Mission Impossible 7
After playing the baddie, August Walker, in Mission Impossible: Fallout, Cavill wanted to be a part of the seventh film as well, but unfortunately, he did not get the opportunity. Talking to Empire, the actor clearly said that he feels jealous of Tom Cruise when he sees him performing the stunts for the upcoming Mission Impossible film.
I was extremely jealous,” Cavill said. “I want to be there, I want to be parachuting off a motorbike into a canyon. Why can’t I be there?
Even though he stated that he is jealous of Tom Cruise, we all know how much he appreciates and respects the 61-year-old actor, as he has said multiple times in several interviews.
