Breaking Bad is undeniably one of the best crime drama TV series of all time. Although the first season of the show did not do too well upon its premiere in 2008, the latter seasons enjoyed great success with not only increased viewership but also positive reactions from critics as well as the audience.

Like any other show, Breaking Bad obviously has its fair share of likable and unlikable characters. As 1 of these characters has made it to the top 10 of the list of the most hated characters of all time, some fans strongly disagree with the ranking. On the other hand, The Boys‘ primary antagonist is nowhere to be seen on the list.

Not so long ago, the polling website Ranker released a list of the most hated TV characters of all time which included characters from many famous shows such as Glee, Game of Thrones, and of course, Breaking Bad. According to this list, Walter White’s wife Skyler White (portrayed by Anna Gunn) is the third most hated TV character of all time.

On one hand, Walter does his best to make sure that his family does not have to suffer after his death. On the other hand, his wife Skyler White has a morally reasonable stance on the show which often proves to be an obstacle for her husband. This has led to fans hating Anna Gunn’s Skyler White to no end.

The character became a target of hatred very quickly as fans could not stand seeing anyone in Walter White’s way. Sure, Skyler had made some bad decisions, but they were nearly not as bad as her husband’s who was selling illegal drugs.

Gunn, who won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Breaking Bad, once told Entertainment Weekly how affected she was by the hatred she received, saying:

“It shook me. As an actor, my job is not to always play characters who make everybody happy. That’s not interesting. In fact, characters that are more difficult in a way are more interesting. But when you are on a show that has become that big and people are identifying you so much with somebody that they dislike, you can’t help but feel like you get folded into it.”

Even years after the conclusion of the show, Anna Gunn continues to be hated for her portrayal of Skyler White. At one point, the actress even started doubting her own abilities, but she also understood that it was the show’s design that contributed to the character’s buildup.
